WordPress is not running smooth..

Da Rossa
I'm currently having a difficult experience with my test site using the WordPress platform. I'm at server2 running DA.

I already host another site here (notasdeaula.org), which is a traditional html-css only, almost pure text with no further web technology, consisting on aprox. 900 pages. The current load is:

used/max
Disk Space (MB) 135.9 1500
Bandwidth (GB) 0.6958 34.179
E-Mails 1 unlimited
Ftp Accounts 2 unlimited
Databases 1 unlimited

I have two domains, notasdeaula.org and darossa.frih.net. On this one I installed WordPress so I can mess with the things. However, I haven't begun messing at all. The installation is almost 100% clean with just minor settings changes. I installed only one extra theme from the official directory, so it's 'clean' too.

Now I'm trying to install some recommended plugins, jetpack for instance. This is what I get:

Quote:

An unexpected error occurred. Something may be wrong with WordPress.org or this server’s configuration. If you continue to have problems, please try the support forums.

Try again

Also, I'm finding it quite slow the dashboard navigation. The first (and 'simple') site is running fine and fast.

What is it? Sad

Vanilla mentioned in more than one thread in this Sub-forum that she has had good results with Jetpack and Core Control. Check out these links as well as threads that have discussed WP problems.

These are the sites for downloading Jetpack and Core Control plug-ins:

You can get Jetpack installed and connected by using Core Control plug-in. It will get you update everything but so far nothing could fix the dashboard slowness.

Look at this:

This plugin hasn't been updated in over 2 years. It may no longer be maintained or supported and may have compatibility issues when used with more recent versions of WordPress.

From here.

I read it too Da Rossa. I'd just ignore it though. If it works for Vanilla, then there is a good chance it will work for you too.

Errr... are you SURE? I ask because php-based platforms like WordPress and PHPBB forums like this DO have flaws... and some of them can be brought by plugins or third-party hacks... Or, like could be the case, to exploits found in the long-time-no-update plugin...
I've been told some horror stories about flaws and no-updates...

An update:

http://frih.net:2222/CMD_FILE_MANAGER/domains/darossa.frih.net/public_html/press/wp-admin/install.php

As you can see, it says there:
Quote:
WordPress requires that your web server is running PHP. Your server does not have PHP installed, or PHP is turned off.

How come?

Also, when I go inside the phpmyadmin manager, I see two odd messages:

Quote:
The phpMyAdmin configuration storage is not completely configured, some extended features have been deactivated. To find out why click here.

Quote:
A newer version of phpMyAdmin is available and you should consider upgrading. The newest version is 4.1.6, released on 2014-01-26.

I never proceeded to a manual update in that. Should I?
Also, why is PHP being accused of not being run?
Peterssidan
The PHP code will not run when you view the files from within DirectAdmin. Use the public URL instead.

Yeah but look at that:

Already Installed

You appear to have already installed WordPress. To reinstall please clear your old database tables first.

I deleted the original WordPress files but kept the database. Then I downloaded the 3.8.1 version in .tar.gz and extracted there (way faster than file-per-file FTP upload). then I renamed the "WordPress" file for security reasons then uploaded the wp-config.php and .htaccess files.
What am I missing?
Or is this question beyond the scope of this forum now?

I'd have exported WP instead of deleting everything and just keeping the database. Once exported, delete the whole WP Folder. Make sure I clean out my cache every where, maybe even use another browser after that. Then start the latest version of WP from scratch. And import the exported files.

Here's a tutorial of how I would have done it:

Do you have a back-up of your Website, so you can start the changes you want to make from scratch?
