the most commonly used one is .tk , but there are others, such as .co.nr which is pretty free, the problem with .tk is that it's used so much, finding something unused can be tiresome and tedious

it is free domain but it has advertisement. 'ive searched for free domains for ages and trust me, they aren't very good use 123 reg it's just about £3.60 a year i think for a .co.uk domain, but i suppose your all american and don't care

as many of these registrars are SCAM sites collecting personal infomation.

I know a way to get free domains and I think its way faster then Namepros.com But you need to refer people and sign up to newsletters and take survey's they give you points for doing all of the above and when you get that much you can use your points to buy a domain. If you want the link PM me since I cant post referal links on forums and plus I want to get credit when I told you about it so just PM me for the link.

Nothing is free; someone must pay for it, and you, as the consumer, probably will be the one. These "free" domain registrars are simply sites that usually collect info and spam the hell out of you.
If you can get a domain from www.godaddy.com for about $5 a year, then why even deal with sites like these.
Don't have $5? Well, don't bathe for 3 days, go roll in dirt, then go lay in a gutter, begging for money. If you do it right, you can make over $1000 a day. 
.tk, well i have to say, the service has gotten lower and lower.
Now, you have no choice to put that .tk ad on your site (if you get more then 1000 hits per month), before you had a choice. NOT only do u get a frame on the top of your site, but you also get a popup, and at the start a black page with an ad on it!
THAT SUCKS!
Nothing else matches .tk, for now.
There is one way to get a fully functioning site, but you have to sign up to offers like, surveys and that. But for a years free fully functioning domain name (no hosting included), its worth it.

I don't want to use free domain
and I may use free web space It's not free any longer at eurodns - now it's a 4 Euro fee. I have the support email to prove it too.
