Help Installing MySQL on SuSE Linux using ssh

ammonkc
at work I've got a Linux server running Apache and I need to install mysql. I've never installed MySQL on a linux box before. I've only installed mysql on unix (my osx powerbook) machine. I don't really know where to start with installing mysql on SuSE linux through ssh.

Can anyone explain to me how to install and configure mysql on SuSE?

and secondly which version of Mysql would be best to install?

I would really appreciate any input or help.
thank you

I have not worked with SuSE, but the easiest way should be to download the MySQL RPM for SuSE from mysql.com the install it like any other RPM.

I think You should install version 5.0.15-0.

rpm -ivh mysql_package.rpm
