LOST

hrdfarkr
Is anyone else watching this series?

I love the show, but they need to cut back on the lengthy last episode recaps, and get some more content, and like scrubs and the sopranos with long breaks, this show decided to take a 3 week hiatus.

Anyone else completed fixated on this show or am I the only one?
shaggly
No, I too am completely fixated on the show; but I completely agree about the show recaps. The last episode was almost in danger of being a complete recap show..........

In season 3, I think they're going to make the shows 2 hours long, so that they can devote the first hour to recapping everything previously Wink
zielaczek
Damm right, best series I've ever watched
but it getting to long
all the things shown in 24 episodes of season 01 could be fitted in like 10 episodes
sometimes its getting really anyoying when u watch whole episode (specialy begining od 2 season) and action goes only few minutes forward, noething new happends
of course when finaly something is going to happen its the end of episode Sad(
and u wait another week thinking about nothing else
i just hope it wont be like startrek, 7 seasons Smile)
i hope they will finish entire story in 3 season
hrdfarkr
I wanted to strangle people when they did the two hatch episodes, like I needed to see the same episode from two angles.
snowboardalliance
It can be a little dragged out, but I'll be happy watching this for a long time. I mean, if they give everything away really quick, the show would get cancelled fast. Right now, they can go for several seasons, instead of a quick wrap-up.

(@MODERATORS this should probably be merged with the other topic thats on the next page I think)
albert
I always watch Lost BEFORE Laughing

But I don't watch it now,
because I think it is a bit long......
hrdfarkr
I'm fascinated with all of the external additions to the actual show like the websites they've made and the hidden information in each show, hints as to what might come.

I've always said Blair Witch project made the mistake of not thinking the audience would pay attention, imagine how much scarier the movie would have been if instead of them flinging the camera around because "they" hear something, what if during normal shooting, they accidentally catch a clip of someone or something watching them, moving through in the background. Not part of the main action but subtly behind it.

what does this mean?

I totally agree. I was so mad when they showed the same episode twice from a different point of view. And does anyone know why they decided to take 2 weeks off and play reruns?

I thought this would be nice to know for you fans.

Thanks Noob, I love all the google and yahoo map hacks, they removed it now, but Yahoo had googles main offices listed as a fish store, they even created a small website for it.

As far as Lost goes, new show tonight, one of the characters gets killed, tons of hype...should be a good episode.

Yeah, it looks like it'll be good. I think Sawyer might be the one that dies only because they hint at it in the episode description. I hope he doesn't though becuase he's a good character (especially his comments and nicknames).
hrdfarkr
I'm putting my money on Shannon dying... She doesn't really have a strong storyline now that her brother is gone and Sayid has more interesting things to do.
teezme2plz
I AGREE THEY WASTE SO MUCH TIME RECAPPING LAST PROGRAM. ARE THEY ASSUMING ALL ARE NEWBIES TO THE SHOW, IT DRIVES ME CRAZY. BUT IT IS ONE OF THREE SHOWS I WATCH DEVOTEDLY.
Torchflame
The recaps don't bother me as much as they bother other people. But that's just because the recaps keep me from having to explain everything that's goin on to my wife. But she's getting hooked, now, as well, so maybe we'll start getting irritated at the recaps.
snowboardalliance
SPOILERS

So looks like Shannon does die. Last weeks episode was a nice way to do something diferent, showing all 40 some days from the tail survivors side. The previews make it look like they aren't going to be getting along (Looks like Ana Lucia is still shooting people).

Will someone tell me what will happen on the last episode of season 1? (you know, that small part after that ladies baby got took away by the french woman)

I can't watch it next week here in Singapore.
bart107
The show is now being broadcasted here in Belgium. But I'm waiting for the dvd-box to watch the series. Too much commercials during the episodes. Anyone know if there is going to be a third series of "Lost"?
3shades
im watching it,

but here in england we are only on season one!

(dont tell me what happens!)

its really good what i've watched so far (15th episode?)

yeah, anyways, looking forward to the rest!

there are rather a few too many adverts though, but its still good

I thought the producers said they are planning on at least 5 seasons now. So I would say definately 3, but I'm sure it will last as long as the ratings do.
osiashion
I've watched first and all the episodes of the second season and, although now is improving as long as the episodes are broadcasted, I must say that I still prefer the first season by far.

The beginiing of the second season dissapointed me a little. I hope it continues improving as now is starting to do.
hrdfarkr
Without giving anything away to our dear friends from other countries, the show got very slow in the beginning of the second season, I think they are doing a good job of making up for it.

It only started off slow in the amount of time that passed in each episode. The new mysteries were pretty good to keep me occupied though so I don't think it started too slow.

EDIT: so today I just got 5 of my friends hooked on the show.
snowboardalliance
Bump: Tonight the episode is what kate did. It looks pretty interesting. I really can't wait.

EDIT:
Spoilers*

Wow, so the computers can communicate? And what was Michael doing messing around with it? And is it really Walt on the other side? Why would he be on the computer? And that cut out part of the tape was weird, who cut it and why? So many new things that are now unanswerd...
schudder
Wow, I really shouldn't have read those spoilers :p
The first season is coming to an end here in Belgium, but I've been following the American episodes by downloading them. Unfortunately, I'm an my uni network, which has a 5GB limit which, I'm very close too Sad

Wednesdays episode was really amazing! Yeah, I cant wait to find out what happens with the computer. I think it really is Walt, but man, Im too excited to find out what happens then to think about it!

Too bad we're now on a break till January with Lost. That was a bug cliffhanger to just leave for over a month.

Oh well, now my friends can get caught up I guess.

I had been out of the country while the first season and start of the 2nd season were on the air. Was able to get my habds on all the episodes at once. Let me tell you my butt was sore after that extended session of watching LOST. Pretty wicked show for being on cable.

Unforyunately just missed the final episode. I like it very much and so I highly want to see the climax. No DVD available here (in India) for hire as of now. I am waiting for it.
darklighter
If you want to see it, you can just download it. The internet is full of the episodes of lost. If you are lucky, you can have it in 15 minutes
Tvis
If you have a fast connection that is... Laughing

Anyways, indeed it is the best series there is. I watched it on cable in México, and I had to chose between 24 and LOST. 24 used to be my favorit, but since I first saw LOST I cannot stop watching it. Though in internet it is better, because there are no commercials!
joshsterm
Did anyone see that on the last episode "What Kate Did" that Sayid was on TV when Kate was in her dad's Army Recruiting office for a split second. It looks like he was a military prisonor or something. I saw a screenshot of it somewhere but now I can't find it...
hrdfarkr
TV Guide has a few shots like that this week. Sayid on Kate's Dad's tv, Hurley on a TV on Korea where Jin walks in as Hurley is shown as a lottery winner, Hurley drinks milk with Walt as a missing kid on it.

THe series is actually different compared to other ""HEELLLLP!!! I am stranded on an island"", type of scenario.

It is actually - i think - showing the way people learn to live..
and all the jazz...but truly it is addicting far beyond recognition, It is marvellous, the way of picturization and presentation.

I am still unsure whether it is a action, horror, thriller, or sci-fi series.
BUt this series i personally feel i smuch better than the TAKEN series.
colilon
Ive watched the new ep and than ran into some freaky pics...
In the smoke Eko was watching, were flashes of Eko's past...

Here are some pics... truly amazing!
<If you run it frame by frame you'll see it.>

snowboardalliance
Interesting pics of the black cloud thing. Looks like it has something to do with looking into Ecko's past.
colilon
Yes, and there are theories....
Like, people say that when Lock said he saw the most beautiful thing in the world (ep 4) he ment Hellen, which he thinks is the most beautiful thing in the world...

And that kind of explains the "I looked into this island eye" thing...
Blaster
I watched lost from the very begging. It is deffently a how you need to watch closely. If you don't you will miss important clues.

How many other peopled watched from the first epidsod?
hrdfarkr
I've watched from the beginning, but the interesting thing from my perspective is the hidden clues, the logo on the shark and the plane, which is also in the shelter. The images in the cloud monster which are clearly from his past. I feel like even tho I have watched since the first episode, until I go back and watch the first season on the DVD set I just got, I won't really have seen alot of the clues.

The cloud monster is a perfect example, from the naked eye it looked like flashes of light in the cloud, until I noticed the profile of a man. I would never thought to have looked further into that cloud unless I saw the profile.

The other interesting aspect is the scenes in the back of important scenes, like Sayid being on TV when Kate is confronting her father. Those also fly past your eye when you are watching, now i'm watching like a hawk hoping to not miss them.
hrdfarkr
SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

Wow, what an excellent episode, Jack getting deep into a God complex after his wife's miracle surgery, is brought back down to earth by losing a patient and cheating on his wife only to be further kicked while he is down by finding out she cheated on him.

Who is his wife's boyfriend, Desmond? or perhaps one of the survivors?

Alex was the name they used to bring Kate out after the encounter the others, That sounds like it's the french women's kid.

Hurley is going to hook up with Libby, and Charlie looks to be starting a breakdown. I love this show.
jeopardy98
I noticed the faces in the black cloud also. I have TiVo and I did it frame by frame to see them.

This is def. one of the best shows I have seen in a very long time. From what I hear they have enough material for 8-9 seasons already. Granted that would only be like 3 seasons if they didn't do a 45 minute recap, ha.

Anyway it is a show that I watch pretty religiously. The only other show I make sure not to miss is Jeopardy. I'm gonna go try out for it next time it comes to Washington, DC.
hrdfarkr
let us know if you get on Jeopardy, i'm a closet fan myself....I useless bomb on one or two of the categories tho.

kung_fu_stu
I'm just getting into Season Two and I just can't get enough of it. I find that sometimes you can almost predict what they are about to say, and that makes the writing either really good or really bad. I'm going to say the writing is superb.
phathugo2467
Lost is a great show. Yes, it is dragged on and does play out very slowly. However the plot is amazing. I love how the writers come up with all the connections between the characters.

My bet is it has to do with Darma. I mean, why is there a secret island where there used to be experiments and no one knows, probably because no one left the island. Just a thought though.
hrdfarkr
I dunno, remember Desmond is there from Darma or is it DHARMA...I cant remember its too late...anyway. Desmond is from the company he and refers to the others as well. Perhaps they are the survivors of the ship that the french woman was on?

do you think the last ever episode will finish with them getting saved?

LOST... i have been watching this show since the start and i must say ... nothing ever happens on this show.. besides the 100 commercials that they have every time . The show really does not tell us anything and most of the time goes backwards on what we want to know. Just watch the show and think back... what did i see tonight.. you will be able to tell the whole story in 1 sentence. I dont know why i still watch the show lol. I guess its because every week i think something will happen and of course it does not

Ahh... Lost!

Here in Sweden, we are not allowed to see the new part at the same time as in the U.S. So, I'm sad, but I cannot discuss it with you. Sad

I loved this past episode, it was so great. No the episode didn't really reveal that much about the island, but if you think about it has ANY episode ever revealed that much about the island? No, most new episodes just pose more questions to confuse the viewer. That is my main problem with the show, they never answer these wierd puzzles that they leave you. Not that I don't understand the show, or because I am too dumb to figure them out, but I would like some closure or at least a half assed explanation.

What the hell is up with the polar bear from the first season? what was the deal with the Australian guy that was originally in the hatch, then took off when the survivors showed up? Why was it important that Jack knew him from before the crash? What the hell is the deal with Locke when his eyes go all wierd every once in a while? How did nobody die in the plane crash? A couple people died after the crash, but not as a cause of the crash itself. How does Walt communicate with Michael on the computer? I didn't know AIM ran in DOS. Why the hell does Walt appear to random people and speak backwards? Why the hell did they kill off Shannon? She was hot, even if she did the dirty with her step brother.

The only question they have ever really answered was why Kate was with the marshall on the plane.

Now we have Charlie's hallucinations, whether or not Charlie is using again or no, and why Locke did not destroy the heroine. Three more wierd things to deal with and still no answers to even some of the seemingly insignificant mysteries, such as how people can honestly think Anna Lucia is good looking.
710ths
Me too, its a great programme. I've missed several episodes so I guess I'll have to buy the DVDs.

Ya I like lost I watch it every Wednesday. I heard it going to be alot of seasons I dont know if is true or not. But I just was hoping that it ends because I dont feel like watching it all of this time just to figure out what the whole thing about. But the only two shows I really watch is Lost and Prison Break and Prison Break is like the same it shows and then stops for a while but now its not going to be comming back into Feburary something or March.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
I am sorry but NOTHING that those guys from lost can write will ever top the greatest show of all time.
24
That's right baby! 24 will kick the holy mushrooms out of any show like that. Why? I'll tell you why, it's because of Mr. Jack Bauer. He's a proper well designed action hero with a proper supporting cast. The way it's meant to be.
Jack Bauers' rice krispies make no noise. Snap, crackle and pop were too noisy for him to complete his breakfast mission.
He is the don. Don't mess with him or you will end up in a body bag. Season 5 is upon us, and I know that it's going to be superb!

Hurrah for 24!!

lost is great . but it was even better when started. i was expecting it to be more of a reality based show instead of a monster movie like show. all about the island's defence system etc... was totally spoofy. although the show is presented exelently , it would have been better to write an actually good script like robinson crusoe.

In Ireland we've just started the Second Series.
the opening episode has me hooked again.

I can't wait for tonight's epsiode, although I must admit I am getting seriously annoyed at how many people are down on Charlie. Everyone else has been allowed to have their complete breakdown and big stupid moment and yet Charlie is the only one who gets completely judged and abused for his. At least his didn't get anyone killed (Locke, Ana Lucia, the french woman etc). He is also the first one whose mental breakdown was based on the thought that he was helping someone else. Everyone elses little moments have been very selfish and personal. Charlie was concerned about the baby.
colilon
Hmmm...
I have a game, everyone writes 3 Q he would have asked the creators, if he had met them. (assuming they'll answer everything.)

I'll begin,
1. what is the monster?
2. what happens if you don't push the button?
3. do you have answers, logicly posible answers to everything?
ShatteredGlass
Lost is an amazing show. And I haven't even seen any of season 2 yet.

2. what happens if you don't push the button?

3. do you have answers, logicly posible answers to everything?

1. How long can we expect the show to last realistically?
2. Will we ever see flashbacks which tell the story of the Black Rock?
3. Can I be on the show?

The first time i start watching a show such as Lost I tell myself this is great I must start following this series.
But as the story continuous it becomes more of a 'as the word turns' everything which is said and done is being milked. What I mean is that everything takes impossible turnings the outcome is tragic but the will recover. Sometimes I just wonder how they came up with this stuff
user1024
You're right. Lost is one of the best series ever. Not as thrilling as 24 in my opinion but a very good entertainment. What is quite annoying in lost is all the open questions which are never answered. But a good information platform is www.lostpedia.com . There you got all the answers of all your questions. I agree, it is a very awesome show, but the writing has gone to crap. I remeber hearing a while back that the writers do not have any more ideas about "the numbers." Also, the episodes seemed to be dragged out, you do not learn anything about the story. I doubt there will be a 3rd season. But damn is it a good show!! Lol. I remeber I downloaded the entire 1st season and me and a couple friends made like 50 muffins and just got high and watched them all while eating said muffins.
syedraino
It is a great show. If you missed a past episode, itunes has them for $2, typical show runs around :43, it would be close to :48 without the recaps.

Re: 3 seasons . . .

On the 'extras' CD of the pilot, they interviewed the staff. I believe they have an outline for 6 years?

do you have any of those external links with the 'hidden information'?

January???????? good thing '24' is in stride and prison break is coming back on.

that is a very good scenario. a lot more things make sense now. is that why jack came walking out of the woods on the pilot episode?

holy crap that was a great episode. I am so pissed I dont have a tivo unit. I want to go back and slow motion alot of scenes for things that I think I missed in the background.

Mr Eko and his confession was interesting, and I think both Locke and the prisoner gave away a ton of information in that little confrontation.

I do quite like Mr. Eko as a character. I'm still interested in what the deal with in respect to the trees. In 'Fire + Water' he was marking out his favourites then in 'Maternity Leave' he starts cutting them down.

He's now properly replaced Locke as the mysterious character on the Island. I hope for Locke's sake that the tantrum he threw in the Hatch was just for the benefit of Gale, because for the wisest character of season 1 to be suckered in by such a blatant mind trick would be disappointing.

I'm interested to know more about Eko and the trees too. Looks like he's building something

The reason the show goes into re-runs so often is it takes them 11 days to film a single episode, so occasionally the run older shows to catch up. It drives me crazy as well, but the good part is it is also one of the few shows who carry 24 new episodes every season.
benstewart
How can the same bunch of people be that 'lost' on a daily basis?

I'm waiting for the 'red shirts' episode, where they focus an entire episode on all the people who aren't main characters:

Redshirt1 - "What is Jack and Lock and all the other fruitloops up to today?"

Redshirt2 - "Who's Lock?"

Ok, so my DVR cut off the last minute or so but my friend told me the end, and WOW that was important. I DEFINATLY think ana lucia, charle, and sayid are being trapped. And who thinks Sun cheated on Jin?
Blaster
I think Jun got raped. Seems weird that it would just happen now. Who would be having a little bit of fun on an Island. But what would I know. I hate that it ended so soon. It was nice to finaly see a new eposiod. Very Happy
hrdfarkr
I definitely think the baby is someone elses. I dunno if it is cheating or rape but it should be interesting....

The preview leaves alot of open ended hopes and dreams too. Doors closing, locke diving for a closing door, what sounded like Desmond saying something. Are the balloon seekers being trapped.

Man I am psyched about this show.
kung_fu_stu
I've read so many comments that just say plot this and plot that but what about the damn acting. It's not the destinations that's important but the journey.

I could care less that the plot progresses because the acting along the way is enjoyable enough.

There is no break!!!!!!! Tommorow a new ep will arrive~~~~~

SPOILER - the trailer for next ep.

Well, so, they finds the baloon, and henry escapes?! (I think he has a weapon, remember the ep where sayid is doing his thing, well he never takes the plyer out, guess he left it at henry's...)
and the clock, it gets to 00:00 and all of the gates get closed.

I agree with you about how to many people are focused about the Island plot.

The minute the writers seem to hold off on revealing something about the Island for a few weeks the majority of the fanbase seems to suddenly start complaining.

I personally watch it for the great characterisation and interplay between the characters. Sure I'm as intrigued about the Island as the next man but I'm not going to start complaining the minute they decide to delve into a characters past.

In Russia they've shown only season 1. But my friends from Moscow download season 2 and send to me. Now I have 10 episodes from the second season and I've watched four of them already. And I am a bit disappointed. The second season, imho, is much weaker than the first one. Maybe the later episodes are better...
AG007
I like LOST, but I do not like how the people in the island are becoming upset with each other. I hope they make up in the future. LOL
hrdfarkr
I think this season has moved a little slower, but it definitely has more information per episode, and more interesting little hints to everything.

I get upset when they don't comment on the hot story line I have in my head, like the door map, or the item that ecko is building (we see him marking trees and cutting them down, now this episode Charlie starts helping) but not what he is building.

Why has no one else discussed the whole trip to Claire's holding area...they walked haf way across the island.

Many unanswered questions and alot of upcoming interesting new twists, the previews show Jack calling out the other for a trade for Henry Gale....but we still aren't sure who he is.

The Lost is too long I think. I'm patience but 2 series with nothing to see its kinda boring.

It's not a happy meal, the whole idea is to have a long running show with plenty of material to discuss.

This weeks episode is catching alot of heat about supposedly being boring (sorry no one found a new hatch painting this week but cmon),

lessee....

Bernard and Roses backstory is finally told
Rose was cured of cancer by the island
Rose indicates to Locke that she knows he was in a wheelchair before the crash and can walk now, and therefor will be able to heal faster.
(this opens the door for alot of curing questions...Charlie's drug habit, Sun and Jin's sudden pregnancy ability, henry's calm demeanor despite an arrow hole and a Sayid beating)
Locke finally starts drawing the map
Henry makes it clear (with his reaction) that he is happy Locke is insane about thinking the button wasn't pushed
Kate admits she saw the clothes and beard costumes
Vincent finally returned (the dog...I hear later in the season he gets his own flashback epiode)
Jake and Kate are back on again and Sawyer is out again

What more could you have wanted?

Yeah good episodem and also Micheal is back. But just to comment, we dont know that Rose had cancer specifically do we? It could have been something else. Sun, the doctor stopped her on the street to tell her that Jin was the reason they couldn't have kids, the only other issue would be if the bald headed language teach had something to do with it, or if the island healed Jin.

As for Rose and Cancer,
from ABC's Lost site
http://abc.go.com/primetime/lost/episodes/219.html

ABC.com wrote:
We follow their hopeful love affair through to their honeymoon in Australia to learn that it was, in actuality, a ploy by Bernard to get Rose to see a faith healer in an effort to cure her terminal cancer.

They don't say what kind of cancer, but they do say cancer, and that she was in remission, and that it has returned.

Interesting side note, I found a diary link on the ABC site, and it mentions that someone on the island thinks that their brother is being held in the armory and is believed to be an other, this is getting more and more interesting. I can't tell if the site is not working or if it is my browser, but I goto

I am/was a HUGE Lost fan, but the little action, long mysterious cut scenes are wearing thin. I am getting the feeling that the creators do not have direction other then make up strange plot lines that never get discovered. Anyone remember the smoke?

is this a monster or some kind? Question

If it lasts as long as it should, there's no way of predicting how they will end it. Every season adds new twists.
hrdfarkr
The writing staff says they have at least enough story lines for 3 seasons, but they do have a specific plot line with a resolution of the things we see on the show. They have also expressed that the islanders are not dead, and that there are reasonable explanation for things that happen (not far out sci fi ending with aliens dropping in and invisible monsters etc.)

lost is a good show, its kind of long winded though with not alot of produce.
2 seasons and so far we have learnt say 2% of the islands secrets, and in season 3 it will come out way too fast, they should have spaced it out abit more. as season 1 was 24 episodes of characters details tbh.

its a good show but the producing and camera crew are shakey, as they make errors and show things theyre not supposed to. I.E the hand next to the horse.

this show is beaten by 24 =D hands down.

If there is a God in Heaven, the next episode will feature a nuclear detontation on the island. Very Happy

I know you all love this show, but OMG. Slow pacing. So many plot twists they don't have time to address them anymore. Implausible behavior. And just plain annoying characters.

What group of castaways would allow one person to "steal" the supplies? Especially the guns and meds? Any normal group would have kicked Sawyer butt as group and taken control of supplies. For pete's sake, they have ex-police, a doctor, and ex-miltary people there. It isn't believeable that none of these people would force the issue sooner.

As pointed out by the captured 'other', they have serious trust issues. You'd think everyone worked for the CIA, NSA, or Mil Intel the way they keep secrets from each other. Yeah, it makes for plot lines and suspense, but at the cost of believability.

And pushing the button? Who would do that? It doesn't make sense to me. A fragmented film reel and a hearsay story from a guy who promptly disappears. That isn't enough to convince me to keep up the pattern.

There is a lot of other stuff that is totally ridiculous, but you get the idea. I love SciFi, Horror and mysteries, but this show is just a mess. Yeah, I watch it every dang week, but it's like a car wreck on the highway. You don't want to look, but you just can't help yourself. Smile

So, please, someone tell me why you think this show is so good? I really want to know.

Yeah totally agree with you and with the other comments here. This is a great thread that we have going on here. Lost is a great show, and it is best watched all at once on DVD IMHO. When I saw the 1st season on DVD I was blown away bceause everyhting was relevant and you really get to appreciate all of the little gritty details that all of those flashbacks portray. I am saying that when it is stretched out for months and months with tons of breaks and stuff then you really tend to get frustrated with the pace of things and suff. But when the 2nd season comes out on DVD then I bet you anything that when we rewatch it again (yes I have seen S1 twice so I probably qualify as a fan!) then I am sure that all of those horrible episodes like everyone hates hugo and the dave one will seem relevant!!!
Frag
Good show, though im not the biggest fan of the recaps, the flashbacks etc, its still a very good show, the story can move on a bit slow untill the last 5 eps of the season (looking like that in 2 now with Michael) its addciting and I love it.
hrdfarkr
I think it's a totally innovative concept for television. I know it moves slow, and it drives me just as crazy as everyone else, but at least they don't do the 2 seconds of show two hours of commercials that American Idol does, or the annoying end of show collage cliff hanger of 24. I like that there can be multiple levels of interest in the show. The casual watcher who is just following the story line, the more intense fan who is catching all the number and character interactions and then the total obsessive fans who have researched everything the show talks about.
hrdfarkr
(yikes....submitted while typing)

The last episode with Ana Lucia is a perfect example. Many people just followed the story line and were fine with it, some people noticed things like the police cars in the parking lot had the same numbers as the hatch. Even less people noticed that Sawyer was the person Jack's father hit with the car door. Less people recognized the line "hey i'm walking here" from an old Dustin Hoffman movie. I think only a handful went looking for the Gary Troup manuscript that Sawyer was reading.
(Gary Troup was the writer of the manuscript, the manuscript was called Bad Twin...search amazon for a copy)

But how many of you realized the commercial for the Hanso Foundation was a fake? That if you dialed their 1-800 number it gave you a password for a website? That if you goto the website and enter the password it gives you a hint to find secret information out about the island?

Personally I find the whole concept refreshing and intense. I look forward to more excellent cross promotional ideas and hidden hints.

What?

Does this have anything to do with that number that was in that Hanso commercial last week? Because I forgot about that and haven't called it yet.
HoboPelican
Okay, After tonight's episode I officially don't give a rat's patootie about this show. The level of stupidity of the characters and the plot 'twists' has gone over the limit for me. All it is is a soap opera with delusions of grandure.

Almost every character in this mess is an awful example of a human being. And now they remove one of the few remaining decent characters. Phag! I am not going to waste any more time with this show.

I was really glad when reality shows started to loose their hold and scripted shows started making a comeback, but this show makes a case for reality shows!

Enjoy, fans, but I've reached my limit for stupidity.
macfly
I've watched two or three episodes. Didn't find them particularly exciting. Perhaps I missed the good ones. Although everyone seems to like this show, it just doesn't grab my attention.

I had been watching this show since season 1 and up until now and it is very still very addictive. I cant wait for the next episode.

Lost season 1 is very nice but season 2 is not better

it is very nice program:)
Ducktape
The recent episodes have been stupid because everyone is either dieing or becoming evil. It is just dumb. Also, the hatches thing is getting a little far-fetched.
CrookedBlaze
I like the DVD's better. No 10 minute long commercial about if Exedrin Sinus cures your sinus headaches, Excedrin Migrane will cure your migranes! (Wow, what a philsopher.)

Then, you can catch the plot, watch it over, and you don't have to wait another week for the show to come on.

But those DVD's are getting EXPENSIVE. I lot the Lost Season 1 DVD for $40, now they are goin for $50-60.

Dude, that's 3/4 a tank of gas for the truck >.<
Revelations
Here's some "evidence" I dug up. My theory is that the whole thing is a science experiment.

My evidence:

1. Polar Bears...on a jungle island???

They must of been there for a while to adapt.

2. DHARMA

The Dharma Initiative built The Hatch / aka Swan Station and the other Stations for research purposes.

# The abbreviated words have not been revealed, but it seems possible that the first two letters of DHARMA stand for "DeGroot/Hanso."

* Degroot/Hanso Advanced Research in Magnetic Anomalies?
* Development of Human Alternate Reality and Memory Alteration
* Donum Homanus Agnosco Re vera Mentis Abutor (The Gift of Human Understanding: Fulfilling the Human Mind)
o Abutor (fufilling) can also be translated as "abusing".

The Others are really part of the Dharma Initiative performing experiments on the island inhabitants.

The old South Korean flag (with 8 kwaes) bears some resemblance to the Dharma Initiative logos: http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/kr_hist.html. This may be due to the importance of the symbol in eastern mythology.

The Initiative may not exist at all but be part of a Skinner Box experiment on the people on the island.

In Maternity Leave we found out that The Others are deceiving the survivors. This can mean that the Dharma Initiative are still active on the island and are still conducting their experiments. They may still be sponsored by the Hanso Foundation. Zeke has appeared without beard and was looking fresh with clean clothes on him. However, we don't know what happened after Claire escaped. It appeared to be a full scale evacuation of the Medical Station.

The fact that fresh supplies are still being dropped to the island also suggests links are still maintained with the outside world and the Dharma Initiative is still active and on going.

Possibly have wired the the island with an intranet called DharmaTel

DHARMA is an U.S. Army BlackOp

The Others are just remnants of the original DHARMA initiative. Their current activities have little to do with the original mission. The May 1, 2006 podcast seems to hint at this.

The DHARMA history presented in the orientation film is completely untrue, and only presented as an explanation as to why the residents of the hatch need to push the button.

Dharma means "moral duty". Immanuel Kant was a philosopher who worked very much on "moral duty" in his time. He also argued that the source of the good lies not in anything outside the human subject, either in nature or given by God, but rather only in a good will (!). Kant was also influensed by other philosopher as Rousseau (!!) and John Locke (!!!).

The DI in DI 9FFTR731 likely stands for DHARMA Intiative.

This is a picture of the shark which attacked Michael and Sawyer in Adrift. Notice something? Yes. This shark has the DHARMA symbol on. However, it seems apparent that it was just a prank. (The producers have said that the logo on the shark was a prank and not sanctioned.)

After watching all these episodes (S2E19) I think these are all mad people, or atleast people with small mental problems. They are just left in an island to solve thier problems themselves. The Others are the doctors.

Best explanation I've heard yet! That takes care of all my issues. Locke keeps pushing the button 'cause he is Obsessive-Compulsive. Everyone lets Sawyer steal the supplies due fear of confrontation issues. Paranoia keeps everyone from telling others what they have learned. Sawyer is a klepto. Delusions and drug therapy account for the monsters and polar bear. Throw in an eating disorder and a drug habit. Bingo! All mysteries solved.

Yeah, it is all starting to make sense...I bet the writers got the idea during one of their committments. Smile

!!!!SPOILERS!!!!

I think the actions of Michael since he has returned from the "others" completely ruins any chance of this being a self treatment experiment.

You've got several dead bodies already, I don't think that's theraputic.

I still firmly believe that the survivors were hand picked for the island, the "others" targeting specific people, the fact they know all their real names. Most of all the odd fact they seem to be easily swayed into doing things that most people would completely never stand for.

The whole hand picked idea might be what they mean by finding out why the plane crashed. I think they were all picked for a reason. I just can't wait to findo out what that was. And I really can't wait for them to stop michael. Sayid knows what's going on and I bet him and Jack will do something about it in the finale.

I watched Lost one night at my girlfriend's house in the middle of the first season when they had a recap. I loved it, and watched the whole first season on DVD. Unfortunately, I have not seen most of the second season, so I'll probably wait until it is released on DVD to catch up.

Ah yeah, it not a forum if it doesn't have a Lost topic!! Very Happy

So what's the deal with those "Others" dividing people in two groups. Something like good people and bad people. I mean wtf's that all about! Very Happy
and what's the criteria for it anyway!
Remember how that "Henry Gale" told Ana Lucia that Goodwin said he could change her and that she was worthy. Well worthy of what?! What do these people who fall in the "good people" category have that the "bad people" don't? I hope we'll get the answer to that question this season but i doubt it Neutral

Exactly. I hope sometime soon we can start to get an idea of the others' intentions. Trying to make the good people join their group or something maybe?
cheh
Most probably, yeah. And Walt said they make him do tests.

And one more thing about the "others". I can't shake off the feeling that they're infact good people or at least doing something with a good cause, but using a bit extreme techniques and that's why are misunderstood by the losties. After all, how many times has one of the "others" said: "We're good people." Ethan for example kept saying it all the time in Claire's flashback Very Happy
Then again Walt didn't seem to enjoyed his stay over there and neither did Alex (Rousseau's dauther).

This show is sort of like a mystery there are always things you have to find in the show. I figured when micheal asked for only them 5 to go that he was taking back. But i think siard (sp?) will follow and start shooting and stuff will start to scramble. It should be interesting.

Definatly, Siyed is goin to follow the group and I think they'll stop Michael before he can turn them in. Only a few days left till we find out.

I love watching Lost...

This show does a great job of keeping the viewer enthralled in the storyline by not giving too much away. Loose ends are dug up every week and ones from previous episodes are rarely tied up at all... One that comes to mind immediately is Libby.

For those who have not yet seen the episode all about Libby and Hugo (DAVE) Then Skip this next section.

******* SPOILER FOR THOSE WHO ARE NOT YET UP TO DATE ********

Libby ( The psychiatrist) appears in the mental institution that Hugo (AKA Hurley) was staying at. She appeared to be mentally ill in some way, as the nurse fed her some pills - and she had brown hair. She seemed shabby in appearance and made no communication at all.

So what was she doing there? How did she get out? How has she recovered from her mental illness? How did she become a Psychiatrist? Shouldn't Hurley recognise her better?

None of these questions are answered in following episodes before Libby is killed off by Michael and his wayward gun....

******* END OF SENSITIVE CONTENT **********

But we hold onto a hope that they might one day get answered and hence we all keep watching.

It is a tremendously popular show - and it is very well put together.
I hope it goes on for many series and we dont find much out, for that is what makes it so addictive.

I really like this show, it is one of the better produced shows on TV now but I am starting to have some problems with the show.

Mostly is this is the end of the second season and no answers to any of the big questions are answers. Even from the first season. The constant new clifhangers with no resolve is getting tiring. Polar Bears, Smoke (security system), etc. Some information would help build a story that seems to have no real direction.

About the last season episode it was a fun ride, but again it was billed in the advertisements that big questions would be answered. But alas noting was really revealed.

Echo should be dead. He is not a super hero. He was in a confined area with 2 sticks of dynamite the shock wave should have killed him, let a lone the fire back lash.

I am guessing Michael will come back to rescue his friends but will that be enough? He killed two people. Some how all will be OK. Just like when Anna Lucia kill someone. All is OK.

My biggest question: are the writers & producers LOST?

It was a HUGE cliffhanger but it did answer some stuff, think about it.

_----START SPOILERS

We know that the electromagnet theory of the plane crash is true
We know that Henry Gale is a leader/higher ranked than the bearded guy
We know more about Desmond.
WE know that Mr. Friendly/bearded guy worked with Desmond.
ALSO, I think that confirmed what I said about Mr. Friendly having been the army general in a Sayid episode. He says he was in the army.

Of course this episode did raise like 100 more questions
-
What was with the foot statue?
Desmond couldn't sail away (glass bubble)?
Will Micheal be able to get away? Decide to go back instead?
What was that bird that "said Hurley's name"?
Libby in the Desmond flashback?
Those guys monitering somewhere for electromagnet activity?
The Widmore connection?
What will happen to Kate, Jack and Sawyer?
How did Charley survive? Did Locke or Ecko?
Who are the others and how to they relate to Dharma?
What was Mr. Friendly/Tom painting on the wall? The map? How? Why?
And that tube that dumps the notebooks off to nowhere, what's up with that? How could all those notebooks just be sitting outside for so long and just be in a big pile? You'd think that they wouldn't last out in the jungle for years. How much of a set up was that?
Why was the Pearl station an experiment? To test the people in the swan?

Ok, I'm done for now. Hell, we've got like three months to think about this show.

Items 2,3,4,5 are not an answers to anything, really. Just more info to no real purpose. And item one is just so freaking silly. Mag fields are tricky, but the strength of a field decreases REALLY fast as distance increases. To pull down a jet, you would have to be doing major damage to any living thing on the island. Heck , it should of pulled every metal thing on the island to the hatch before the plane even felt it. Laughing

And I won't even go into the countries routinely monitoring the earths mag field. (http://geomag.usgs.gov/, as an example) Imagine trying to hide THAT pluse.

I can excuse bad science in a show, but there has to be somethng else to offset it. And, for me, it sure is the characters. One dimensional and irrational. And in general, very unpleasant people anyway.

I just know that they will never tie up the loose ends. <sigh>
Guyon
I am guessing the reason Desmond could not sail away was that the magnets played with his compus so that it brought him back. You can get off if you follow the heading that was given to Micheal because it was exactly between a north and south heading. And you could not find your way back because of the magnetic fields would push away your compus. Well my theory anyway.

But I still feel they do not answer any real questions. They just drop the subject hopping viewers will for get. I want 1 big mystery solved after 2 years of watching. Not just another piece of an never ending puzzle.
Blaster
I have a feeling that the compass on the boat got screwed up when the hatch thing had a problem. Also it is still crazy to me. That eposiod is a shocker. I just can't wait until next season. Yeah, they aren't really answers I guess. But for the plane crash one, I was browsing the abc lost forums and some people were talking more about how an EMP could have taken out the plane's insruments, but it doesn't really explain the crash. I don't know, I hope we get a better explanation.

There wouldn't have been an EMP discharge at the time of the plane crash though would there? Surely the EMP was Desmond's activating the fail safe and destroying the electromagnetic experiment that was the Swan. Unless the failsafe had activated it would have just been like the System Failure that Desmond experienced after he'd killed Kelvin, only worse because it had been allowed to go on for longer. As to the electromagnetic energy being able to cause the plane crash, it does seem a touch unlikely but i'll let it slide because I love the series, and feel it has more to offer in its overall package than the odd slight lapse in its scientific underpinning.

I watched the first season and stopped. It's getting so annoying that they keep adding different stories after another one! Like it's never end. Sometomes I feel that some story they added are pointless.

I think the same thing about this show.

But I guess the story about this movie ( a plain crashed on a island)..u cannot make lots of series. So they try to keep us in front of the Tv, to find how will they be rescued...I bet it will be ship..there is allways a ship..and they will live happy ever after.
The only thig that keeps me watching this movie are some qute actors
ignitionnight
This show is ridiculous. Ridiculous in a way that means I am incredibly addicted and will probably watch the entirety of season 1 and season 2 this summer.

People get way too into this show though, I mean yeah its fun and the mystery is part of what makes this show amazing, but some people spend way too much time trying to figure this stuff out.

filmeroz wrote:

Understand about the actors being the biggest draw, but they've either killed off all those I liked or they have very minor rolls. <sigh>

And you have to know that there is almost no chance of us seeing a rescue. What usually happens is a show gets cancelled without the option of completing story lines. They just go away. It's a rare show (Firefly comes to mind) that gets a chance to continue after a unplanned cancellation.

Hmmm, I hadn't thought about it, but if that really was an EMP in the season closer, no electronics on the island should be working anymore, right? Everything in the hatch should be dead now as well as anything electronic on any boats in the area. Boy, you'd think that the magnetism and EMP events would be attracting a lot of notice in the world-wide scientific community. Smile

I'm going with idea that the whole thing is a secret VR experience, probably designed by the IMF to get info out of characters. Laughing Makes as much sense as anything else, ya know.
Catastrophic Fairy
**possable spoilers you've been warned!**

What I found sad about the season finale, is that the actors who play Micheal and Walt, don't know if they have a job next season. XD They have to sit tight and hope they're not wasting their time, because they don't know if their characters will ever be on that island again. /:3 Same with Locke, Echo, and Hatch-Boy. D:

When did we see Mr Friendly with Desmond?
Desmond's hatch partner (Kelvin) was a former CIA agent, he trained Sayid how to torture people during the Iraqi war.

Of course this episode did raise like 100 more questions

More likely his directional tools are screwed because of the magnetic field

I think Michael's boat died when the EMP went off in the hatch.

Alot of people are saying this is just a joke from the producers, early on in the show there was a scene with a similar bird and tons of fans were swearing it said Hurley.

Libby in the Desmond flashback?

Libby is Elizabeth in the flashback, she owns the boat he entered the Widmore race in, and its the boat we see coming up during the funeral.
snowboardalliance wrote:

I think its Desmond's girlfriend trying to find him again, she told him at the stadium that she had alot of money and cant find anyone she wants.
snowboardalliance wrote:
The Widmore connection?

Widmore appears to be involved in medical products (sun's pregnancy test) so it would make sense if they were involved in health experiments like the ones being described on the Hanso Foundation site which is linked to the Dharma Initiative. They also sponsor the race that Desmond was in, and the owner of the company is his girlfriends dad, and the girlfriend is who receives the call about electromagnetic anomoly being found.
snowboardalliance wrote:
What will happen to Kate, Jack and Sawyer?

Henry walked passed a sign that said Pala Ferry and the orientation film mentioned taking a ferry to another island. So, I figure we are getting ready to see a new section of the control system in place.
snowboardalliance wrote:

CHarlie was a good distance from the blast and would have some ear ringing and sore muscles, but I don't see why he wouldn't have survived.
snowboardalliance wrote:

I think the others are the Dharma Initiative management team, in charge of the experiments on the island.
snowboardalliance wrote:

He was painting the glow in the dark map, it glows because there's phosphors in laundry detergent, and he did it to map out the rest of the island.

I dont think it was a setup, they were sealed in a plastic tube. I bet some of the ones on the bottom were nice and mushy and green, but the top ones are in the sun and not really subjected to water...so they should be fine.

Is anybody else addicted to the lost wiki? http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Main_Page

I've been hitting random page on there for a while... some cool things came up:

The Shark: http://lostpedia.com/wiki/Shark (the one that attacked the 2nd raft)
had a DHARMA logo on its tail.

Times the numbers showed up and I didn't notice: http://lostpedia.com/wiki/The_Numbers
LAPD police car numbers in Two for the Road
When Hurley rides past 6 players of a girls' soccer team in the airport, each uniform has one of the numbers.
When Hurley's car broke down they showed the speedometer (in km/h) go from 16 to 15 to 8 to 4. The dashboard also displayed a temperature of 23 degrees Celsius and 42 km on the odometer.
Winning lottery numbers used by Hurley

Freaky, no?

I read about that.. Again, from the wiki:

Initially there was controversy about the DHARMA logo on the shark's tail. It was rumoured to have been put on the shark by the graphical department without sanction from the production team. However the production team have confirmed that the appearance of the logo on The Shark was in fact intentional.

Per Kristin from E: "Yes...Though I'm told it wasn't supposed to be quite that obvious!"

I am also going to take a nice look at the lost Wiki, I hadn't thought of that. It must have a ton of information in writing that I am trying to keep straight in my head.

I am already chomping at the bit for the new episodes, I can see this is going to be a long off-season for me.

Kelvin and Mr. Friendly. I'm pretty sure it's the same guy. Listen to him talk, look at him. And it would make sense that Desmond assumed he died, but another "other" helped him.

Definitely not the same guy.

Here's Tom, or Mr Friendly or Bluebeard or Zeke as he is known on the show.

Here is this theory I read about... I think it's one of the best so far... I'd like to share it with you guys. What do YOU think?

Deep within the highest Echelons of The so-called Secret Rulers of the world where science/ultimate government rule and power no know boundaries, there are certain areas which officially do not exist. (2 most publicied ones we know about are Atol A143-Beta (Bermuda) and Area 51 (US).

The Designated Area Theory assumes the islanders are not 'Lost' at all. Consider. If you had been 'captured' for some unknown reason, knocked unconsciouis and dumped in some forest, when you wake up, u'd asume u were lost. But the prisoners who put you there know quite clearly where you are.

The losties have one thing in common, all have come into contact with some kind of millitary or academic authority. My assumption is the losties have been 'Diagnosed' and they have the Right Stuff - a certain 'power'.

Offspring of these Losties are a rarity as the losties children contain a pure undiluted essence of this 'power'. (Hence The Others will strive to take these children at all costs).

The islanders are not LOST, the Powers that be (let's say for argument sake) CIA, know about them. But rescuing them would mean revealing the island to the world and therefore exposing the world to the most heinous scerets that have been conducted on that island.

Experimantal species of a super-human race? seems far fetched. but think about it. Ethan ? seemed to have a fair bit of strength. The Others? They seem ot have the power of Stealth. Fake Henry Gale? Didn't flinch much in the light of Sayid's torture and beatings.

here are some spoilers for season 3

Everybody has been chomping at the bit for info on season three of LOST, and after a barrage of obvious foilers and misdirections, I’m pleased to bring you a few tidbits I found out over the past week.

NOTE: I can say with a fair bit of certainty that the episode titles and centric listing up to now is absolutely 100% not true.
Now for the real spoilers. Your first question is… How trusted/accurate a source? Pretty trusted. Keep in mind these are not that awfully revealing in terms of plot, and some may be a rehash of things you’ve already heard. Here we go…

- The first “sprint” of the season is a mini-season with a self contained arc running for six episodes and a larger arc being developed in the background.

- The theme is very serialized this time around, less purely “character driven” episodes as those were thought to be dead spots for season two.

- Remember the nursery for Claire and how many elements were derived from her background? Look for Kate, Jack, and Sawyer to have similar experiences. How much the others know about the losties and why is the big point of the initial arc.

- What happened to Desmond, Eko, and Locke is directly tied to Kate, Jack, and Sawyer’s situation with the others.

- Henry Ian Cusick did infact sign on as a “guest star”, as did the actress playing “Penelope”.

- The “failsafe” made some interesting physical changes to the island.

Damn I can't wait. Until now I forgot about lost, which is good since I won't see it for probably another couple of months.

ohhh, a Lost thread! I just have to say something here. This program just has an incredable plot that is like no other and sucks you right in! If you have not watched this then you really should go and do so.
I really love this show and am sad series 2 has finished. Looking forward to series 3!

This is my favourite series at momment, I have all the copy of that two seasons, the format of them are RMVB, if somebody need a copy, just send me a message.
cheh
shit! i have to stop reading this topic, otherwise it'll spoil all the fun for the 3rd season...

btw, how many seasons did they say there's gonna be? 6, right?

EDIT: hehehe, the s word got censored Very Happy
kla_bor
I totally agree with you that the show is brilliant although in season 2 I was really annoyed by Anna Lucia. I really hate her and I'm glad that she's out of the show. As a matter of fact I don't know anyone who liked her. I got the first season on dvd from my friend so I could watch one episode after the other and belive me, it can be addictive. I used to watch 6 or 7 episodes one after another because they always ended in the most interesting moment and I just had to know what would happen next. But waiting one week for the next episode can be a bit annoying. I've also heard that they want to make 7 seasons but that's far too many. Just look at Gilmoer Girls. They used to be such a hit at first but now I hardly ever watch it and when I do, it's disappointing.

It's so good ! This is my favourite series too

w00t! new season started airing two days and no posts about it? i thouhgt i'm gonna have to read about 2 or 3 pages about it Rolling Eyes Razz

ok, firstly to comment on kla_bor's post. yeah, i agree dude, Ana-Lucia was the most annoying person in the show by far. Very Happy i was really releaved when she died. oh, and the way she died, was one of the best moments of all the series! i think anyone would agree Very Happy after the end of this episode i just sat there for a minute with my mouth open :O Very Happy Laughing
most annoying person on this island now is Jack, i'd say. man, that guy must put his nose into everything, everything must be like he says, he's always the smartest, always right, wants to fix everything. needless to say that he's wrong in most of the cases Rolling Eyes but everybody loves him (characters on the island and viewers behind the screen) just because he's a bloody doc.

now i wanna see some comments on the third season. what do you think it's going to be like? i think there's gonna be much less running through the jungle and tracking people or animals or any other weird creatures. Very Happy
oh, and i really wonder what happened to the 4 people who were in the hatch at the end of 2nd season. i hope the 2nd ep of this will give us some answers.

whoa, enouhg for now, i wanna see what you people think! Very Happy

The black smoke has claimed one casualty. This series is not revealing much of the secrets. Too many mysteries to keep up with. It drags on for too long. You stop wondering what will happen next.

Unfortunately, in my place the third season has not been started yet Crying or Very sad and I'm looking forward

I love to hate cliffhangers. Confused I did not watch the first season when it aired...i picked them up on dvd and that is by far the best way to watch them. I did the same for the second season. but i wanted to watch the next episode so bad that i am hooked into making time to watch the 3rd season one per week, and it is killing me. Now on top of that they took a break...geez Rolling Eyes But I still love it. Smile

I think I'd buy the whole two seasons and wait when the third one will come in here.
The best character is Sawyer (Josh Holloway). There's a one good actor. Cool

those are the best tv shows ever...i will rank them...

5. Still Searching for it...

anyone have a good series like those above?

Lost has left me well.....Lost. I think it's one of those shows that if you miss one episode you will lose track of what's happening. I watched for awhile and thought it was pretty decent but missed a couple shows and then had no clue what was going on. So much happens so quick in this series. Sometimes, I think these type of series take off, and then they try to extend the series too far and the quality of it falls off.....when it seems natural to end it, END IT don't keep it on life support. That's just my opinion....not necessarily about Lost, but about TV series in general. Probably the best way to watch it is to get the DVD set at the video store.

It got terribly poor ratings. Viewership was something like 1.4million compared to 16 million of Lost.

Let me confess that I did not read everything on this topic....

I only saw part of season one and season two....

I have absolutely no idea what's going on now, so I did not read the posts cause I did not wanna spoil it for myself.....lol
arano
I love lost and I find myself totally addicted to it now, trying to find out as much as I can about whats gonna happen without spoiling it for myself. One of its best features is that you never know what is gonna happen, it is probably one of the best series shows on TV in many years.

I do have a few gripes about it though, like the lack of communication between everyone on the island, you find yourself asking if that is truly a real trait of humans if you where stuck in that situation, you would most certainly tell people about the experiences you have. Some of the things are prob spot on if you saw crazy stuff then you prob wouldnt be too fourthcoming with information to share, but most of the things they encounter, you would tell someone and it would spread.

Also series two did draw things out a bit, in series three we do need alot more answers to questions to keep people entertained and also to keep people watching.

hopefully they do not draw things out too much I would hate to be disappointed by it being drawn out to to make a bit of cash
dickyzin

annoying? a little.
realistic? probably

I mean, they are strangers and there are a lot of tensions between them, though they are a little overly secretive.

Intense, that's what it was. This show rocks and it keeps rocking, Lost gives us a killer cliffhanger right before it goes off the air for 4 months...Jack is one crazy SOB. This is why we watch this show people!!

The whole Kate and sawyer thing pissed me off soooo badly, SHE belong TO jack, i mean they kiss, and they were about to kiss again, and they always have this whole flirting thing going on, and he'is the leader for the group, and she is kinda like the lead girl in the show. But then when u look at it u see that jack is a whole complex person on his own, and he really wont be able to handle being with someone, he is this whole ehtreal being that works on his own. All in all the whole episode was written beautifully once again. Jack pulls an ol'Kansas shuffle on the others with his whole trick. Boy the doctor really screwed them over. Then there was the whole kate having to choose at the end, pretty much an episode of choices. Loved it, love it LIKe crazy. Loved the cinematography with Eko's funeral, a sense of trying to show us something is going on and that more people are going to die because the way they showed it was that it was such an ordinary thing. All in all it was one crazy episode with crazy twists, and the thing i dont get is WHy do people even review this show if they don't like it...WHy do they even watch it!!

Spoiler start I suppose

Ok, so what's up with Juliet? Think she is good or bad? Are the "others" part of DHARMA, or was that group Juliet signed up with completely unrelated to DHARMA? That brainwashing part was kind of crazy weird. Alex's "dad" is Ben, probably just what they say right? It has to be Rousea's (sp) daughter. Juliet - "He'll let me go home." So Ben can just "let" people go "home" huh? Interesting... Oh and Tom said like, "not since the sky turned purple." So much mystery to be revealed, not to mention the original island. OH and Desmond can predict the future, luckily we might get info next week.

Anyway, there is my rant of questions, can't wait for next week.

I liked the first season, but now, watching the season 2, I just find it SO LONG !!!! Argh... I'm not sure that I'm going to continue watching it, it's getting just to slow, nothing is happening. I'm sure the whole season could be resume in one episode sometime ! Laughing
pudovkin
Juliet is weird. I believe she can go crazy anytime and shoot everybody in the head. And that what it makes her to be HOT! ;D
Tokci
I think they are streching it...more and more episodes pass and nothing is revealed.

They should give something to the viewer...but still I love the show.

my friend thinks he read there was gonna be like 7 series finishing with a film. I think thats rubbish. Anyone got any idea? I hope it doesn't go on for too long - might lose interest
sonicj
They definitely seem to be drawing things out further. I think there are more new mysteries with every episode and very few things answered. At this rate they will never be able to reveal everything. Yet I still watch it every week. I must be into self torture.
Guyon
this next episode of lost where they "finially" explain something will be a make or break with me. Up till now every time they dangle an explanation all it does is turn out to be more questions. Which is not bad at first but by the third season the viewers need some solid information.

Quote:
You little devils. We were taking these flashbacks at face value, and now, this mind-blowing realization that the Losties could be time-traveling. What the—?! That was awesome! Is this sort of a climax of season three?
C.C.: This is the first of a couple of turning points.
D.L.: Yeah. We had mentioned earlier that we were going to drop a couple of bombs in the middle of season three. And this is sort of—
C.C.: Bomb one.
D.L.: I'd say this is kind of a grenade. The real bombs have yet to come.
C.C.: Right now we are softening up the earth for the big bombs that are going to fall. The B-52 is on its way.

Henry Ian Cusick was so good in the episode. Are we going to see more of him as the season continues?
C.C.: Absolutely. I mean, I think the Desmond-Penny love story is really central to the whole overall mythology of the show.
D.L.: And obviously, he sort of leveled Charlie with this very sort of specific proclamation at the end of the episode, that Charlie is going to die. And coming down all the way through the end of season three, that becomes a very major storyline that we're following, which is, Desmond keeps seeing Charlie die and can he stop it? Is he powerless to stop it?

So, has Dominic Monaghan been calling you every day just to check on what's happening in the writer's room?
D.L.: What is tricky is that Dominic Monaghan is an awesome actor. Before we put out this script we called him and said, "Look, this is what Desmond is going to say to you." We had to have a conversation with him about where we were going. And [Dom] was very, very excited about it. Just because, the idea of one day you're Charlie, and you care about Claire and the baby. And suddenly, the next day you're Charlie, and you care about Claire and the baby, but you've got this, you know, massive Grim Reaper standing over you at all times. I think it's really given that character something that he didn't have before. We've sort of moved on beyond the addiction, and now he has something really cool to play.

Does Dom know whether he’s going to be killed off?
C.C.: Nope. He, like all the actors, only sees the script for this week's episode. We told him this was going to happen, but he doesn't know what the character's ultimate fate is.

And what can you tell me about what lies ahead?
C.C.: More beach. We're back to the beach. Our guys are out of the survival story on the little Alcatraz Island. And we have much more with the original Losties coming up.

So, bye-bye to the Others?
D.L.: No, not at all. Next's week's episode, Jack is still back on Alcatraz—he has just finished the surgery. And we have not seen the ramifications of Juliet shooting Pickett or any of that stuff. So, we have to pick up that story thread—and understand what happened to Sawyer, Kate, and Karl—and once that's done, as Carlton said, it's time to have some fun with Hurley, and do a little Claire story and have some Sayid action.
C.C.: The Sayid episode answers a lot of mythological questions. That's a good one. That's coming up in about four weeks.

A few weeks ago, you said you were discussing an end point for the series—which, by the way, is something I never want to happen. Have you yet figured out an end?
C.C.: We are having conversations with the network about that. And yes, we would like to be able to tell everyone when Lost is going to end. Because the show has a beginning, a middle and an end. It's a story, it's a story that has a conclusion.
D.L.: I think a lot of the time, Carlton and I feel like we're the parents in the front of the car and the kids are in the back going, "Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?" And we just keep turning around, saying, "No, we're not there yet." But what we can't do is say, "We're not there yet, but we're gonna get there at this point." Whatever that point is, I feel that we owe the audience who has come with us for now, you know, 60 episodes. They deserve to be told, this is where we are going, and you know, when it's going to end.
C.C.: And they need a bathroom break.
D.L.: And they need a bathroom break. Boy, do they. I need a bathroom break!

Anything else you want to tell the fans?
C.C.: Just that the island is an alien space ship.
D.L.: And will be blasting off.
D.L.: No, you know, all we can say is we weathered the storm of being off the air for three months. We feel the fans have a lot of legitimate criticisms. But really, I think we both feel, and everybody in Hawaii feels, that these next 16 episodes are really cool and taking a lot of unexpected twists and turns. And I think it's great that we're on the air for the next 16 weeks, and you only have to wait another six days for another Lost once one ends. All that being said, we just really, really love our fans, and it's great that they are so passionate about the show. And a lot of times we hear criticism and the same time we know it's their show, too. It's just really cool to be back on the air, and we're excited about what's ahead.

I am so lost... Shocked Guess that is why they gave it that name....they aren't lost...the viewers are lost. Every time I think it is one way, it turns out to be another way. I am starting to think it is something like a dream or limbo or something like that. Some of the things that happen there are not possible in our world, or at least not something you see everyday. The way the story brings up new material or connections between people seems to have no order to it...sort of like a dream. Sometimes things will happen in a dream that makes no sense...sort of like lost does. What do you guys think?

You gotta be kidding me. Previous episode was best in season 3.
And S3 is going great guns. Look at the number of things we have learnt so far.
S1 appears to be better as we always like to romantasize and treat old as gold.
Also in S1, you didnt know anything at all, so everything seemed new.

You gotta have patience with a show like LOST. Its not a sitcom, neither is it Prison Break or Heroes.

Lost is one of the best series out there. I have never enjoyed a show as much as Lost. At first it was confusing and I didn't like it that much but now it's gotten so intense. Did anyone see last weeks episode where they found the guy with the eye patch and he's with the others? That was one of the best episodes I've seen.

Next week they're going to infiltrate the others camp/home. I wonder what the defense mechanism is that they use (those pillars). Well to sum it up I think it's a great series and it can be enjoyed by anyone.

Yeah very interesting.

So speculation, why was that guy there? Was he part of our standard "others" (ms. clough(sp) was there after all)? Or a different group? Are the "others" also the "hostiles?" A bit confusing.

Also who thinks that Locke is a complete idiot? I mean sometimes he acts like a little kid. In S1 I thought he was smart, but over time he became almost obsessed with "faith" in the island, etc. Now with causing the hatch to implode and blowing up the flame I really don't like Locke.
sonicj
Yeah Locke has a fetish for pushing buttons. Laughing

I think when he referred to the hostiles, it is the same as the others. It is just a matter of perspective. If you crashed on the plane you called them the others, as someone coined them as that, I think maybe the French woman? If you were from Darma you called them hostiles. Or at least that is how I took it. The part of that episode that has me stuck is when he pretended to be from Darma, he said the hostiles had been there for a long time before Darma. He was also lying. But if that is true I would think that would have been long ago, because all the technology of Darma looks like 1960's or 1970's to me.

My theory before the eyepatch guy actually appeared in an episode was that he controlled the black smoke cloud monster thing (whatever you want to call it). But it seems that he has nothing to do with it.

Any theories about that thing? If there was talk about it in this thread, I didn't catch it (10 pages is quite a lot to sift through)

I still have no idea.

I'm curious if that thing in the previews (those things coming out of the ground) have something to do with the "monster" and the island's "defense system" that Rousseau talked about.

Ok who would have thought Jack had a sister and she was on the island with him. Now if they had wanted to really get wacky they could have had him in a physical relationship with her. Surprised
cornga56
Does anyone have a clue as to what the deal is with the giant 3 toed stone foot (looks like it used to be a statue) that Sahid and two of the others see on their way to find jack, kate and sawyer? I think it's from the end of season 2 if I'm not mistaken.
That's been driving me crazy because there's nothing that I've found that refers to what that could have been. I keep wondering if maybe it's from an ancient settlement or if it's something the Dharma initiative built.
Any thoughts or links to information on this would be awesome.

Well, wasn't there another encounter between Jack's Dad and Claire's house in an early scene last season? The weirdest part is that the guy is still on the island, dead somewhere!

And we will probably know why he was in a wheelchair and even maybe why he isn't any more. (Seemed like the eye patch guy was hinting at that before he was interrupted, and Locke seems to be looking for the answer in the promo)

i have to admit that for me lost started going down the hill when it came back after the break. episodes 8, 9 and 10 were really bad in my opinion, every next one was ust worse. the 10, where Hugo found that van was probably the worst lost episode! but the week after that it started going up again, and every next episode was just better and better.
14 wasn't as good as 13, because it didn't contribute much to revealing the happenings on the island, but it was still a very good episode for itself. there were some nice turnovers during the whole episode, the biggest shock coming at the end Very Happy i love it when they to that!! Very Happy
Milky.
Holy s**t, I simply love lost, I've seen all the episodes (I don't download them, I watch on TV), and so far, it's so intresting!

From characters I like Sawyer most of all because he's so cool and he has all guns (lol Very Happy).

Really? Hurley is cool but I have been liking Locke less and less since season 1. I sort of like Sawyer for his comments and Charlie can be funny, but I don't really have any favorites anymore.
sonicj
I think the show had lost steam for a little while but has picked back up speed. I think so many people like Sawyer because he is a good, bad guy. He has some good in him but a lot of bad on the surface. Personally I just think he is ok. Locke just kills me with his button pushing and knack for blowing things up.

I can't stop thinking about the leader of the others saying he lived on the island all his life. Everything Dharma looking like it came from the 60's or 70's, and they are still dropping food on the island. The eye patch guy saying they fought with Dharma. Why was Locke healed immediately and not the leader of the others. What about the "monster", we haven't seen anything about it in a long time. Nothing on black smoke since Echo died. Is anyone that was on the plane from the other side of the island still alive besides the husband of the older black woman(forget their names)?
markkohfm
the story line took too long to develop in the initial stages of the season

I like Locke, as he is mystical. You know talking to the island and stuff. Generally something significant happens in his episodes. I find him really intruiging.

Hi,
it's a very good serie and i love it.
I have watched the two first season, and i can approuve it.
The third season is the best for this moment. I love Kate, Jack, Locke and Sawyer, main characters. Hurley is 'the big' and he is very fun.

I love it !!
Guyon
Wow I am fining that I am going the opposite direction. I am finding that I am forcing my self to watch lost anymore. After almost 3 seasons many of my basic questions are still unanswered.

Like last night Kate is hand cuffed to one of the others and they chat about everything except important question, same for Jack who now is catching foot ball with them! Ask a question darn it! LOL

Lost's questions was very intriguing at first but after 3 yeas of no answers it is becoming mundain. How long can you expect ot hold an audience at the edge of there seat?
I much prefer the format of Heroes that bring up stimulating questions that are answered in the future.
Indyan
Well, you need to have patience. I think I can actually wait. Its not about answers. Its about entertainment. And its delivering that in plentifull.
Actually its quite wrong to say they havent answered anything. The thing is that we dont know everything yet, so everytime we get two answes, we come across three new things. None of the questions regarding mythology are goinng to be answered before season 5 for obvious reasons. But think about it, dont we know more about the island now than at the end of season 1? And thats how things should be.
Promo for next episode : http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x1mqjs_one-of-us-promo-us

Heroes can afford to give so many answers as, its in first season. In season 2 it plans to do that, by introducing new characters and changing story.
Lost can not do that. Heck, people almost revolted when it brought in two new faces this season.
Guyon
I don't buy that Indyan,

I think after almost 3 years I should get 1 big questions answered. LOL
You said some big questions have been answered can you please name one? I don't want a half answer either Wink

I agree thoroughly about entertainment, but The show is going down hill, mysteries with out resolve is pointless. They need to solve a mystery and create new ones.

If "Heroes can afford to give so many answers as, its in first season", why hasn't lost?

"... Heroes introducing new characters"
Lost has added new characters, like the full second half the the plane!!!! It is not my fault they killed half of the regular new ons off. LOL

We will see about that Promo, just a few weeks ago they promised 3 secrets reviled and none came to pass. Wink

Lost has gone from my number 1 show to like number 4. If something big is not reveled soon it WILL by my last season.

I love the show, but they need to cut back on the lengthy last episode recaps, and get some more content, and like scrubs and the sopranos with long breaks, this show decided to take a 3 week hiatus.

Anyone else completed fixated on this show or am I the only one?

Cant watch it anymore.... Virgin toke over Telewest and Virgin dropped Sky 1 so no more LOST for me... sucks...

Ok well just think about what you know now compared to season 1. You can't have all the answers, but we definitely have a lot more now. I mean if they told us everything, the show would be over pretty quick.

And that episode with 3 secrets could just be blamed on ABC's crap promo. The writers didn't like that they said that when it would just let fans down.

There is only one central mystery, and that is the island. If they solve it the show is over. So, the cant solve a mystery and go on to a new one.
But, they are moving ahead.

At the end of Season 1 we had the impression that Others were uncivilised tribals. They turned out to be far from that.
We also recently came to know that Others have a submarine and contact with outer world.
We also know that the wire Sayid saw is a communications cable.
We now know that the Others were not planted in the island by Dharma.
We know that there are two islands.
SPOILER
According to Kristin, in the next episode we would come to know why the others were kidnapping children. In this island every pregnant woman has so far died due to mystery illness before childbirth. That is also the reason why Claire was kidnapped.

The most basic question is the first question posed on the show in season 1: What the hell is the 'monster'. They finally brought it back last week, but we still have no idea what the deal is. As long as it's taking to answer questions, I still love it. This is the first season I've had to wait a week between episodes (didn't get into the show until after season 2 already aired). The week takes so long when you're waiting for another episode of lost

I was dissapointed at how short season 3 was. But season 4 is looking good. ant wait. Does anyone else think that the show is taking a a big turn. They seem to be adjusting to life on the island rather than trying to get off it.

Shooting an episode and producing it takes time. They started early in October showed 6 episodes, and then took a break to replenish their stock of episodes.
If they didnt do that they would have had to start airing in January instead of October, and then show all the episodes at one go. The word is that they are going to do that this year. So get ready for a long season break (7 months).

This last episode gave a lot of answers. Although I can't help but get the feeling Ben is in complete control of everything. He comes across as he is not, but he strikes me as a master manipulator.

Something interesting is he said he cured Julia's sister of cancer. I am wondering if that is so. Locke can walk, the black lady's cancer is gone. But why not Ben? It was suggested it was because he has been on the island for a long time so maybe he has become immune. But what about Claire? If the island heals why did she need that medicine? And about that implant....how did they know they were going to need that?

I'll just shut up and wait for the next episode. Confused

She didn't, until they activated the "implant." I don't think that Claire would have needed medicine at all, it was just because of what the Others did.

I can be very much wrong about this. But, did Ben have a cancer? All I can recall is Jack saying he had a Tumour, that was badly positioned and would burst his spinal chord if it was allowed to grow. I dont think the tumour was malignant. If it was malignant it would have been hard for him to survive, as the cancer would have spread.

Claire didnt have cancer. She needed Juliest serum to survive the pregnancy. And that withdrawal symptom part is just a story Juliet made up.

OK I have totally had it with the series. I will watch to the end of this sseason and that is if for me.

Kate is with Juliet for hours and leans nothing? Jack is with the Others for weeks sand learns nothing? Then Jack in not interested in any of the secrets? To Juliet: "You will tell me when you are ready?" You have got to be kidding!

All The castaways let Juliet stay with them with out her telling them ANYTHING? Especially after what the Others have done to them!

If that was me I would say, If you want to be part of this group and us to trust you, you better start to explaining things."

What is wrong with these people? Do the writers think the viewers are stupid? Too many holes to keep my interest any more.

By the third season they need to explain things and develop more mysteries. this show is a one trick pony.
Osmodius
Lost was pretty cool up until around the beginning of season 2.

Now it's just another one of those uninteresting shows that should never have made it past the pilot episode. Like Heroes and America's Next Top Model (they're not even hot, wtf?).
Guyon
I am still very much in to Heroes. At least it will have an ending and explain the mysteries by the end of the first season. Wink

Could it be that Jack is now with the others? Remember he was going on the sub, outside throwing a football and all around buddy buddy with them. Maybe the others knew they would not accept her alone, so they sent Jack, because he could say "she is under my protection". I think that is a decent explanation. But if it is not something like this then yeah, maybe it is a one trick pony.
sonicj
Cool, I think I called it on Jack, or at least the direction they are trying to make us head in.

At some point I read somewhere a theory that they were all dead. Could this be or are they now playing on theories of the public? I think we have a never ending show here. The cast will just grow grey headed with us...oh wait I already have some of that. Shocked

Lost's plot doesn't flow very well from episode to episode. It's very jumpy and will randomly refer back to something 5-7 episodes ago which surprises you. I think this is what's keeping those who watch Lost hooked.

I wish Invasion would have been better though (the show right after Lost last season). That show was pretty good at the beginning, but it seems that they "Lost" their good ideas... Oh well. I've watched a couple episodes of Heroes and that show seemed pretty good, I just always forget to watch it on Monday nights. Confused

The island is not a purgatory. That has been confirmed by the writers.

They may have confirmed it, but they are definitely milking that idea or at least trying to make us think that with the last 2 episodes.

Yeah if they were dead it would be sort of lame...like an ending of "and then he woke up"

The show is getting kind of stupid. I would enjoy it much more if it concentrated on them trying to get off the island and finding out what that black swirl is. no hatches or outposts or monitors or running water. That's all gay.

Hey guys. Man I really don't know what to say anymore when it comes to Lost!! I mean I really, really want to stop watching it these days but I guess I still watch it just in case it gets better. I feel like the writers are really spaced out now and are just making stuff (I was thinking of another word!!) along the way!! I adored Season 1 and Season 2 had good twists but this Season is a joke. I mean for crying out loud do they really expect us to go along with the whole magical mystical island thing with people that don't age (Richard), John Locke as some kind of prophet (or Shaman or some Island talker!) and some Ghost in the hut?? Is it just me or is it just plain bonkers?! And the icing on the cake is this whole no survivors thing. It just seems like they are going off on some 1000 different tangents. I really hope that things will get better but I seriously doubt it. I mean it is just sooo surreal and unbelievable now. I mean we are on ep 20 I really don't see what we have learned this season! I mean there are just so many better shows this year. Heroes, Prison break, Dexter, BSG, SG-1....I really don't see a point to Lost anymore.

Guys, if were not enjoying Lost at this point, stop watching it. It means that you were watching it for the wrong reasons and you expected it to be the show it wasnt.

Bermuda Triangle is near the American mainland. This is in Asia.

incredible POST Indyan, and nice link to the extra frames.

As much as I John, iI hope he is really dead. It kills me when so many shows and comics kill people for the shock effect and them bring them back. It takes away form the fear of a character dying on a show.

you are right Guyon... i agree with you...

but i think, John Lock has survived this shot...
and why need Jacob help from Lock? Because he is in a kind of prison?
Zombie
Thats right guys, they killed John for the shock then brought him back. And in the next episode they killed Bernard, Sayid, and Jin before bringing them back as well. It's amazing that about 10 other people including Charlie actually died for good though. By the way, I can't believe they've actually gotten off the island. And next season they're going to try to get back to the island because they realized how boring their original lives were.... Figures.
sonicj
I was expecting some big revelation on the season finale. I don't think we got it. All we got are more questions. For one, if it was a future flash forward, how is Jacks dad alive? Who is in the casket? Naomi said she was with Penny but Penny does not know her. Well if she does not know her, why did she have a picture of Penny and Desmond?

I have come to the conclusion that they are in another dimension or time zone. At least this helps me explain some of the things that are happening until I find out the truth.

I can see this as a possibility, but it seems more likely that he said never mind because he wrote it and not his father, and that is the truth that he was hiding. Why would she say let me call them in the first place if he was dead. At least I got the impression she was familiar with his office, as most pharmacist would be. On top of that, Jack told the chief surgeon to go upstairs and if his father was drunker than he was he could fire him. Yes, I know it is possible that he was messed up on the drugs and booze, but in my experience people on the kind of drugs and booze he was taking don't think that the dead are upstairs in an office as if he never died.

Jack was gray in his hair, and he had no beird in similar flashes from before the crash. In the flashes we saw, I'm sure Jacks father is alive. But if it is glimts from the future, a possible future, some other dimension, I don't know...

I can hardly wait for the next season! I am glad I hung on to this series so long, and did not fall off when they had their down-periods.

Hope next season will be the last, and surprising! And everything solved at the end. I think that the hints that they gave us on the season finale is more of a confusion than a "this is what the next season is about"

Meanwhile - welcome 4400 :)

It wont be the last. I have already mentioned this in the previous page.

Lost would end in 6th season.
Next 3 seasons would be curtailed seasons with 16 episodes each.
They would be broadcast at a strech from Feb to May every year.

It was supposed ot end by season 5, but they decided to reduce the no. of episodes per season and make it a 6 season show.

The finale was the best episode of LOST yet. And acording to me S3 is the bests season.

Jacks dad isn't alive.... He wrote the prescription for himself, then when the pharmacist told him she would have to confirm it with his father, Jack said "don't bother" (because he's dead). He was never shown, and neither was the person in the casket... 1+1=Confused

Since he was messed up on drugs, he reminded himself of his father, even though he knew he was dead. I've heard way too many people saying Jack's dad is alive and I'm positive he was not.

Also, whoever said they are off the island, they aren't necessarily. The show will not continue from that flashforward, it will continue from the island. That was either a flashforward, or a sort of possibility if they get off the island. Either way, it is in the future
mac_ad
I love hearing people talk about Lost! I'm a moderator at Lostpedia, and also represent the Darkufo site as often as I can, and its interesting to hear what people think of it outside of our little world.

There is still speculation that Jacks dad is alive, and Damon Lindelof says we will find out what happened to his body in the next 2 seasons since we really havent seen him die, or seen him since the morgue doc showed the corpse to Jack. And now that we have learnt about the properties of the medusa spider, the theory is that Jacks dad while in the morgue was under the influence of the spiders venom, and not dead, but seemingly dead.

The thing that gets me is... who was in the coffin in Jacks future when he goes to the funeral parlor? We've deciphered the obituary he read and its a name that starts with J and the last name ends in ntham, some people have said its Jeromy Bentham, but we have no characters currently with a last name remotely like that. But given the neighborhood, and the fact the obit says "from new york" also says "survived by teenage boy", I'm assuming it was maybe michael.. !!! Shocked

Ha, yeah there is TONS of work that goes on there! But its an active wiki and forum devoted to lost, and our members help a bundle keeping the facts straight.

I make a good chunk of the Dharma symbol replicas for our site too, just made 'the looking glass' logo recently.

But I agree with your post that true Jack was screwed up, but he wasnt absolutely delerious, he remembers being on the island, him and kate are holding a 'secret' that Jack is sick of keeping, or so he says.. I personally (crackpot theory time) think he returned not the the place he came from, but somehow switched either timelines or to an alternate universe when he was rescued, and if thats the case.. his dad could totally be alive. I'm still skeptical of that theory in full, but until the next 3 years go by, I just cant cut anything out Wink

heres links if anyone is looking for some extra info on the wiki;) And my name is the same over there, and you can generally find me on the forum, I'm an active Sysop, so if theres any questions feel free to bug me sometime!

I hate and love reading theories at the same time. I don't have one myself and I think it's more fun that way. (I have some mini-theories about certain plot lines from time to time and they're always wrong). However, reading some theories get you thinking and it all makes more sense when you start reading a theory you like, but at the same time you don't want to know because that would spoil the fun. I guess my point is, I don't want to but I do read theories on the internet, just wondering if anyone else feels the same way

I love lost! Or at least I did before...

Before I was watching every episodes, but now I get tired off it because it newer ends. Everyone dies and everything is just Confused Shocked ...

Now they have at least started to show 2 episodes each week, so thats good.

But I think the story is a littlebit screwed up now...

Well I think that the show could be alot better i've only seen 3 eps
of the show but that was enough for me.

The last episode was a bit different. They showed flash-forwards of Jack which was interesting. Seems like somehow some of them will try to get back to The Island, now that they're off the island.

I thought that the bodies of the crash victims were found somewhere. What happened with that I don't know. Maybe those responsible for keeping The Island secluded planted the fake bodies of those belonging to the crash victims.

I also used to like Lost a lot when it came out. I do admit the story is getting a bit boring. Hopefully the coming season will answer a lot of the questions and will have a better story line.
Indyan
I am not really sure about that. If you didnt enjoy season 3 (part 2) I dont think you are watching LOSt for the right reasons. Its not all about answers. I dont mind mysteries at all. In the last scene they answered a couple of questions and threw open a basketfull of more questions. That's what I love about LOST.
With a fixed end date LOST wont be dragging along with filler episodes - like we had in season 2.
sonicj
I understand why some people don't stay with lost. Not everyone has the attention span to keep following all the different mysteries that crop up. Heck I have a hard time remembering half of them. But I still love it. I guess you could say, some people get lost watching Lost. Wink
TurtleShell
I'm a fan of all the different plots too--although I too forget half of them. I own the first couple seasons on DVD though--I'll probably go back and watch them again sometime. Refresh my memory.

Yeah, the problem is, once we know the answers, the show is basically over. It is a mystery and like all mysteries, we can't have the answers until the end. The answers will never be as interesting as all the stuff everyone thinks up waiting for the answers. Still this is a story with a beginning middle and end so we will all know what is really going on 3 years from now.

"LOST" is great! I love trying to guess what is the real thing in this movie! Smile

I'm quite sad that they killed off Charlie's character. It was a good way to end his character though. I heard Dominic Monaghan wanted more spotlight for Charlie's character in the show which didn't work out with the producers.

On a another note, what happened to the story that the people from the real world found the plane wreckage and recovered the bodies of those who were on the island? There wasn't any explanation to who the bodies belonged to? Hopefully it will be revealed in this coming season.

Well the show is ending in 3 years, so I'm sure they'll tell us soon. I think that either she lied, or somehow the Others planted the bodies. We still don't even know who Naomi and her people are so there are many possibilities.
McDucque
So its supposed to run for the next 3 years Febuary-May.

That's gonna kill me, every time it comes and goes, I'll be totally depressed.

Is it February yet?
neosree
3 year is too long for a movie like series. But have to face the reality. In the end we must have answers to all questions and we must be clear abt everything. Then I will say LOST is really great sci-fi series ever made.
Aures
In any case, Jack sucks contrary to Sawyer. Otherwise he would have gotten to bump Kate.
snowboardalliance
So has anyone else realized that no one on the island has any relationship anymore with anyone off the island? Like Jack's dad is dead, Charlie and his brother don't get along anymore, Michael's wife died, etc. This is probably very important to the real reason everyone is on the island. I mean, they really have nothing to go back to so they are all stuck together on the island. Any thoughts on this?

I have to say, I think this is what makes a lot of current tv series great. Many times I go see a movie and am left wanting to know more. Sometimes it seems as if they crammed all they could and left out a bunch of storyline. There are quite a few tv shows that I now watch, when 5 or more years ago, I watched almost nothing.
carl_fernandes
Hi I have been watching this series now for a long time. I find the series really interesting. Every episode brings out some more clues and also it creates more suspense. These series are really well directed.

Does anyone have any opinions about what might be the story of Jack and Kate. The season 3 end was really a mystery. And the Jack and Kate angle really makes u want to wait for the next season to Start. The last episode did solve a couple of questions that has opened with the end of the season 2, but then once again they have opened a whole lot of new question. Also I wonder what are the people whom Lock refers to ? !!! (any guesses ... any1)... also the bit about charlie switching on the TV and getting direct reception to that guys Girlfriend was a mystery.

I just finished watching the season 3 dvd's and i noticed something in the episode where Ben takes Locke to see Jacob. After Ben is thrown into the wall by Jacob the camera pans around back to Locke, but when I slowed the dvd down I definitely see a person in the chair that has been empty the whole time. Freeze frame on the person and you see a dark figure and the only detail you can make out is short hair. Other than that I couldn't see his face or anything to give me clues. Has anyone else seen this? If not, go watch your dvd then come post!

I missed it at first but it was all over the internet and I've double checked my DVR and it's definately there.

Anyway, Lost is coming back soon and I read in an interview with Matthew Fox in Entertainment that hinted at time-travel and kind of like, it's not "where" the island is but "when" the island is. It was only hinted at but I'm curious how it will all end.

The show is getting a bit ridiculous for me. I loved Season 1 when they were trying to figure out where they were and discovering things. Now it seems overly far-fetched with Ben's group, and all the hatches and bunkers and all the other crap. Plus I find it extremely annoying that one simple thing takes a whole episode to accomplish. And if the time travel thing is true, then that makes the whole thing more ridiculous. Besides, in Season 2 (I think) well Ben has Jack locked in that room with the glass wall, he tells him it's 2004 and shows him the Red Sox or whoever winning the World Series. Now all of a sudden they are in another time? Get the hell outta here.

Yeah you pretty much debunked the time travel theory. I would venture to say they are digging a very deep hole with every secret they introduce. I guess I still watch hoping they will one day connect the dots. Even though they may spend one whole episode on one thing like the episode they killed the diamond hungry couple, they do a great job of keeping you absorbed into every minute of it.

They will connect the dots. The writers have said there is a beginning middle and end and now we know when it will end. I just hope the ending is good. Also just because Ben shoes Jack a baseball game from 2004 does not disprove time travel. I'm not saying it's the best explanation but I think it's a big possibility (in the show, not in reality).

I wonder what all the time travel is about?

SPOILERS

Like how the rocket came like 30 minutes later, and is that one guy there to study this time issue? I'm really curious about who the people are from the ship (with Naomi). Hopefully they will clear it up this season.

Anyone know if we get all 16 episodes this season? Or will it just be the 8? I really want to see all 16 but if now, I bet the next two seaons will be longer.

Well the writers said they were going to make 3 more seasons each 16 episodes long. So I think this is the first of those three. As for the rest of the season, in my local paper today it stated that Lost would be here for this season instead of waiting for next season or anything like that.

Lost S4 is really rocking. THe ending to e3 was totally awesome.

It may become faster because I've heard we only get 13 episodes this season instead of 16 but we get the same story line.
I'm sure it'll still be great.

This new time travel plot is getting kind of confusing. I missed the first few minutes of the last episode but saw most of it. I hope that they explain it better soon. I'm still loving the show.
Dean_The_Great
The new time travel plot was hinted upon in a small short that was released via the internet a while ago, under the guise of another Dharma Initiative video. In it, a bunny is shown with a number, and then another bunny with the same number appears and there is a vague reference to time.

I really like where it's going, and I'm hoping the answers will start to flow in as there aren't that many episodes left.
Bryan_Bezzle
It does seem like they are taking a new direction and theyre flying with it. Its a good one though because the time thing will be able to answer a lot of the questions. My main thing is when will they take the time to tie in everything they've made a secret of. I certainly hope the show doesn't end and we be able to watch the show over again and pick out things they never explained.

Oh I forgot about that video. It's very interesting/confusing. I really want to know what's going on with the time travel, but I suppose the answers will come out slowly over this season. I hope they still answer all the other questions they've brought up, but I'm confident they will now that there is an ending.

This is so true. Lost is very very very complex. The story is very intricate. You need to follow it very closely, understand everything and even think about what you saw. It is my fav show because it is the smartest show on TV. The only tv show that would promt you to really think. For eg. the episode Constant took me a day to sink in properly and understand the implications.

Btw, isnt someone supposed to die in the next episode?

According to Michael Ausiello from TV Guide we will learn the answer to the following questions before s4 ends.

1) We will learn "exactly" what happened to Michael between leaving the island and him getting to NYC.

2) Michael is a "pivotal" part of the end of the season and he will have an "impact" on many of the characters, including Sayid.

3) We will see how the Oceanic 6 "escaped the island" and what happens to those that don't leave.

4) The Team Locke v Team Jack debate about who is right will "amplify"

5) We will learn who is in the coffin

6) More about the freighter people

7) We will also find out who "seemingly killed" Karl and Rousseau
snowboardalliance
Well I guess we have some time then until the new episodes.

So if we find out:
Quote:
3) We will see how the Oceanic 6 "escaped the island" and what happens to those that don't leave.

Does that mean that the flash forwards are really what will happen? I've never been sure if the flash forwards are real, or like just one scenario. I would like to see some kind of twist actually, like something different happens when they are "rescued." (i.e. different people get rescued or something.)

I would be pretty pissed off if that happens, because it would be equivalent to cheating and simply using cheap tricks to decieve the users. Actually, I am pretty sure that the Flashforwards are real.
Anyway, some more good news. We are going to get an extra episode this season. The first draft of the season finale had become 80pages long so they decided to split it into 3 episodes. The first part will air on may 15th, while the other two will air on may 29th!!!

Can hardly wait for the last season. Hope they are not changing their mind, and make another one, and another one... Glad I stood by this series this long. Haven't missed an episode yet!

That's awesome. I would love to see an actual location where Lost was shot. What episode was this?

I just watched it last night,a nd it was GREAT! THey really did a good job. I'm just hoping that some of my questions are answered by the series finale. I'm starting to worry they'll never tell us what those numbers are all about.

I dont think the numbers really mean anything. According to me they are just something to have fun with.. a red herring.

see, I'm not sure I'm ok with that. I love this show, but I don't like the idea that it's full of all these frilly details that go nowhere. the 'mysterious numbers' and 'dead people show up all over the place'... I mean, if we get to the end of the series and find out that the island is a fantastical place where one can acheive immortality, even post-mortem, and the numbers are in some way or another the coordinates of the island that allow these people to reappear after their own death, then I'll be satisfied. If it turns out the numbers was just a tool to keep the plot moving, I'll be pissed off.

Interesting what will happen next season! But who was in a coffin, for me, of course, this was a big surprise!
Indyan
I think dead people showing up everywhere definitely is relevant and would be answered.

I wasnt also very happy with the fact that the no.s possibly dont mean anything but oh well. Anyway, some sort of info about the numbers if offered in form of the video they showed as part of the online lost experience. Those no.s are co-ordinates of Valenzetti equation.

You can read more about that here : http://www.lostpedia.com/wiki/The_Numbers

great, about the numbers--but they need to say that on the show. I also get pissed off when they do things like offer special insight into shows and movies through websites or DVDs or whatever. If it's relevant to the show, it should be IN the show!

Personally, I love those extra stuffs. But a lot of people were pissed off with the first lost experience and thought that the video was too important to be included an off the show exercise.
I think that's one of the reasons why the recent ARG Oceanic 815 had little to do with the show.

Slight Spoiler about S5 (highlight the line below if you want to read it)

The island has moved in time also.

Yes I agree with a poster above, finding out who was in the coffin was a huge surprise for me too! And it explains why nobody wanted to come to his funeral except jack. Now I'm curious to know how he got off the island and what happened after ben left! Great season, I'm really looking forward to more. And thanks to the posters above me who explained about the valenzetti equation, I love the extra stuff, although I think they should've explained this in the main show!

I haven't watched the show Lost since Season 3. I'm so lost with Lost.

The guy from the first hatch? Desmond? He was Scottish not so? He showed up again. When last did you watch?

I don't think it was important for Jack in particular to have known him before they got to the island as everyone on the island has met or had a brush with someone else from the island. Example, remember the crash with the SUV and the woman wanted to dance at her wedding? Jack worked on her in the ER and the man died? The man was Shannon's dad, Jack even passed her in the hallway and they'd never met till the island.

Locke is just all weird...LOL

I also wanna know about Walt and his garbled language! When you find out let me know.

Why'd they kill of Shannon? She and Libby were off the show early cause they got DUI's.

Wait wait wait....that is season 2!!! Season 4 has just been finished. You mean....you've not seen seasons 3 and 4 yet????

I think he is talking about the other guy - the guy who was in the hatch before desmond.
You are right in the sense that there are a bewildering amount of questions about the show, but its not that we arent getting answers. Its just that every answer leads to more mystery and as a result we often end up ignoring what we do know and start focussing more on what we dont.
Compare what you know at the end of s4 to what you knew at the end of s2. Did you know that smokey could be called by ben? (heck we didnt even know henry gayle orig name=ben)? Did you know what experiments dharma was doing over there? (we now have a much better idea about dharma and why they chose the island and why its so important).

The series is definitely moving in the right direction atm as far as i am concerned.

I heard a nasty rumor that they were ending the seasons in season 5, that would suck...

ohhhhhh....Kelvin! he died.

I could not have imagined that smokey could be summoned!!! I was sooooooo shocked.

As for henry/ben....I know he was gonna be one of the main characters in the show, but NO WAY could I have imagined he was the leader of 'the others'!!!

Yeah we know that they conducted experiments in time travel on the island (weird huh?)

I am watching it over right now, am in the middle of season 2 and I got S3 and S4 waiting to go.

You remember the shark that was in the water when Walt was taken? I saw a dharma logo on it, close to the tail. I was like... *GASP*!!!

hahahaaa

Could anyone explain me the ending of the show..
I mean I watched the last episode a few weeks back, and I just didn't get what they did..

You can really get lost watching the series if you miss one of its episodes. Man,it is difficult to track how the characters and the plot develops.

Right. Prison Break was like that too for me. That was one of the TV series where I hardly moved from my chair. They really kept the momentum going minute by minute.
