hey folks i did a search and couldnt find a thread about this...if one exists please point it to me.
does anyone know if where is the best (cheapest) place to buy a .com domain name from?
and can i buy a domain name and have it point to my frihost hosted web page?
thanks for any help!
I think th ebest place to go and buy a domain is www.godaddy.com that's a real good place to buy a domain. I dont know if there deal is still on but ask them about it they will proberly tell you about the deal. There are many types of post about cheap domains but I know a way to get free domains but It might take a while you have to get points on there website and refer people and then once you get a certain amount of points they but a domain for you. If you want the link, just PM me.
the cheapest .com, i don't know but if there are any belgian users of this forum:
http://www.combell.com/2link/
gives away 5 free .be domain names for everyone.
I use http://www.123-reg.co.uk/ for my domains. They seem cheap and have been reliable so far for over a year. Im in the UK tho.
You must go to Yahoo! for that. It offers a .com domain for $2.99/year...
That's not bad I assume. I use it also, good service. Just for limited time!

Thank for the tip, but it is a limited time offer.
We have to be fast to register!
The price will be the same for the next 5 years if you register now.
I assume the topic starter wants a domain at the moment, so for him, can be a good option, otherwise godaddy can be another.

Yup I cought that deal. Like 5$ a year for 5 years. On my other domain I pay $8 a year. I think thats about average. I don't really shop around for it since that isn't a whole lot of money.
eh i heard tt dot.tk is free! um guess you could go and check tt website out. but i think they require u to have a huge stream of visitors or else they would remove it from u
.tk is really free if you don't care about additional ads to your website. I also tested it but I canceled my account for care of ads in a negative way...
Free .be domains? Why do they need to give them away for free. Also .tk, .uni.cc or .cjb.net arn't worth it, you can just fork out £4 for a domain and then use subdomains of that for additional sites. Like google.

they give it away to promote their services: they suppose that when you have it 1 year, you would keep it.
.be is worth it if you live in Belgium!
.be has no ads !
At www.eurodns.be you can get 10 .be domains for free, and unlimited subdomains i thought.

Promotion!!: From the 1st November 2005 to 31st January 2006 the .be domains are for free for our European, US & Canadian customers.
In order to avoid "domain warehousing" EuroDNS limits per user up to maximum 10 free .be domain registrations. |
i think wh-place was giving away free .org domain names, but there site is down rite now so can say much.

i agree with you
eh if i come form malaysia can i buy domains at others country?
Yes, you can. Buy it from www.namecheap.com
The Bondings way
If you use godaddy, whitch is great apart from the mass of adverts you have to sit through then a quick search for goddaddy coupons gets a lot of good results, I got a domain for £2 ~$3.50
I recommend http://namecheap.com too
I've been using them since '03 and they've always been good and cheap.
in yahoo its cost 5$ only !
A lot has been said about prices, but not much about how to use your frihost site. There are a few ways to do it:
1) redirect the user to your frihost site with the following code:
<script language="javascript">
window.location="your_frihost_url";
</script>
2) use frames
3) see if frihost has a way you can transfer your domain.
I too want a short, ad-free, free domain name, however, my site is non-profit so i have a nil budget, do you guys have any recommendations?

You can try:
idotz.net [in USA] or
123-reg.co.uk [in UK]
for good professional and low-cost service
I used yahoo ($2.99/year) and 1and1.com $4.99/year.
They all provide a way to redirect your domain to any url.
eg.
from yahoo
http://www.mini-dictionary.com
from 1and1.com
http://sat.usitd.com
you could always set up a free domain with http://www0.dot.tk/index.html. the only downside is they put an add or 2 on the site, and you have to already have a site at another location. they just open the site into your domain.
hmmmz tt is quite a gd idea
Dot.tk is a bad one, it gots annnoying popups which is bad. I know a very good one called .co.nr which has no ads at all and it says that they will never put ads in the future. The website is www.freedomain.co.nr
You can get a .com if you visit my site .
Register a Domain Name for Only $ 2.95/year the lowest price around the globe..
Visit...
http://www.bluffmango.com/domain/domain.htm
r there free types and no ads?
Try to search on freeweb.net--er maybe on tripod? Nope, just search...
ya the http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/ is the best in my mind because it is one of the biggest companys and you know that you will have the best service and you will never have slow server time. I have been using them for ever and i Love them. never had any problems. Also it helps to use them when you want to submit to there search page free.
izzit tt smallbusinessyahoo can earn money, cuz if it is, u could use adhearus.com as tt one is better anyway if it is not den srry...and many srry to the rest...

is it only for the belgian users, can i take a domain name ?
if the answer is yes, please, someone translate it
At www.freedomain.co.nr you get a free .co.nr domain with no ads and no banners at all
I use dot.tk. Free URL redirection. "anythingyouwant.tk" You get 3 free with one account. I used it for my moltenstud website (moltenstud.tk) and my techno band site (cupofwishes.tk). I am thinking about a dot com web site, and yahoo is looking pretty darn good. Thanks to whoever put that up.
mine (www.gfx-depot.com) is hosted at ww.pcextreme.nl for € 9.95 a year and never had problems with it.. You'll probably find cheaper but you'll have a higher chance of downtime etc.
dot.tk is not bad at. its free and easy to use. however that was all in the past already. now its like they have so much advertisments. when people view your websites, they would be met with a full page advertisment of dot.tk which is a little troublesome. as not like other websites, they would only ask you to put one small ad on the web but dot.tk is like huge.
Yahoo, I paid $15.00USD for 5 years.
Go to this site https://secure.ipower.com/cgi-bin/hosting/domain.cgi. You can buy a cheap domain there for $2.95 a year but there are some terms and conditions.
i think this is the cheapest domain place check it out if it is heres the link to the site https://secure.ipowerweb.com/cgi-bin/domainreg/order.cgi
erm just wondering is there a fast, reliable, and free domain? just asking only maybe there isnt

www.cjb.net - FREE
www.frihost.net - FREE
There's some that should help you out.
I've personnaly used http://godaddy.com and loved it. It's very cheap and gives you great domain names and service. It even comes with a bundle of stuf flike free web hosting, and other stuff like that. You should use it, you won't regret
I feel I just got over charged. I went to name secure and got a kinda cool domain l-eo.com I like it but crap Im paying 7 dollars an year for 2 years!
still it will be secure www.namesecure.com
LEo
7 bucks a year for 2 years is awesome in my opinion. My domin is gonna cost me 15$+ per year.
yahoo is been out for a while, it's cheap and very realiable. What hosting company that hold $50/stock like yahoo. I have their account for over 10 years.
use this domain it is not bad at all http://www.register.com/retail/index.rcmx
they would like offer stuff like:
- multi user email up to 10 only though
- they would be at your service 24 hours every day
- reliable hosting solutions
- they help you advertise your website
- also they were awarded the outstanding customer service
- 30 day money back guarantee
so you could like check it out and decide lor but personally i feel it is not bad at all.
