I never could make the switch to Linux. Hardware was more of a problem than software for me. Not to mention initial installation and configuration nightmares. Of course that was 5 years ago at the beginning of the Linux revolution!
there are many softwares in linux, and They ara free.
linux is open source, so you can easily modfying your linux os exactly how you want

Exactly !
Today Linux O/S is ready for home-user as default desktop.
If you afraid from the installtion, you can try the Live-Cd version.
Even with the software replacements, windows xp is just more mainstream and there is some software that just has no alternative. I will try installing linux or doing a livecd and see how well and long i can run with it and not run into any conflicts or situations where i have to boot back into windows. Also linux being free isn't really an issue for me because I have a MSDNAA license so I get windows and a bunch of other software for free.
A big problem in linux tough is dvd stuffs ,there is no alternatives yet
about programs like dvd shrink to manipulate with dvd menus, encoding, decoding etc.
Also a worth to mention that almost all Adobe powerful software packages
doesn't support linux (except the reader) so linux in most cases must be booted as second OS

As you writed, and it's true, all the softwares that dealing with DVD edit, are much better in windows.
The big reasone for that is because there are many software patents on those kind of products.

he is serious same that the Linux does not have virus...
I always stow in doubt in installing the Linux, I go to try now...
Already I used the Linux Kurumim Live-CD (version of the Debian - Brazilian)
Now with this history of the virus then, I go to install exactly, the anti-virus leaves my PC slow..
I did not only like it Office it Linux, I am this the system I am almost perfect...
But I heard to say that he is possible to twirl applications of the Windows in the Linux, this I am truth?
There are antivirus programs for linux!
They are sometimes usefull for troubleshooting a windows intall that will not boot.
anyway, why don't you post the prices of these programs, too. That'll show why to switch to linux.
also, some windows programs can be made to run on linux, so a person switching from windows to linux won't have to give up everything they are used too. I got starcraft to work on my SuSE distro without many problems, although it ran slowly.

Yes there is (Calm anti-virus)....but it's not for end-users, only for servers that working with other windows stations :Clam AntiVirus is an anti-virus toolkit for Unix. The main purpose of this software is the integration with mail servers (attachment scanning).

Maybe later on...too lazy those days
But everyone must know that all the linux software are free as a gift !

That's right !
For that you need an emulator.
I am using Wine emulator to run some windows application, like WORD, MSN Messenger (for camera support).
From time to time I need to run the whole windows thing (in other word: put windows in linux window), so I use other emulator called Qemu. have a look:
Full size is here:

OK I took another screenshot of my linux machine runing Windows software, for those who still afraid to try.
You can see from top-left: Explorer, Skype, MSN-Messenger, Word, OutLook.
It's possible to run more Win's software...you can find here a list:
