# Here is a contest to solve a serie

spinout
Here below is a serie - please replace X and Y with the correct letters or maybe numbers in the serie.

7 5 3 4 2 , 1 0 9 0 8 X Y

Preatty silly one... but a nut to crack if you like these exercises.

X=0 and Y=7
spinout
I gave you 10 coins, you got one correct out of 2!

Y=7 correct. X is not 0!
Peterssidan
I don't get why Y=7 but I think X=, (comma).
spinout
Sorry X is not comma... Hm, no coins for that sorry
spinout
Ok, I will make it simpler:

You may swap the , for a . !

7 5 3 4 2 . 1 0 9 0 8 X Y

7 5 3 4 2 , 1 0 9 0 8 X Y

stupid of me to be so Swedish... both series work of course!

Y is 7 so just X is left to figure out...

That's generous of you thanks Spinout.

The logic has to do with the keys on the number pad of the keyboard, moving down diagonally. Following that logic, I think that X=6. But why is there a 0 between 9 and 8?
Nyasro
Yeah X=6 AND Y = 7
spinout
the reason is that my numpad has the 0 in 2 places... Something must be a little tricky. gr8! coins for the solution in a moment

Thanks! So your numpad has the 0 in 2 places? How about posting a photo to illustrate the correct solution?

Sure it has, look at wikipedia... the zero have a looooooong button over 2 places

I stared at the top left with the 7 and went diagonally down three strokes at a time.

There are numpads starting with 1 - especially at keylocks beside doors... Also my banks numpad for code gens starts with the 1...
kaysch
That's what I thought, just like my own keyboard. But shouldn't the order then be
7 5 3 4 2 , 1 0 0 9 8 6 7
instead of
7 5 3 4 2 , 1 0 9 0 8 6 7
?

Well, whatever, we got the idea, it was highly enjoyable and deanhills and I got 10 coins each. So thanks a lot. I really like these small competitions.

By the way, if you donate coins to others, does that mean you will end up having less?
spinout
I am having less! But it was fun!

When you go from 1 to the space between 0 and , you then press the 0 since the button also cover that space. From that position you go the top row 9... After that start with the 0 at the bottom left to 8 and 6. Hope you got the idea.
