I was drinking a beer with some computer geek friends of mine and they told me it was possible to have a kind of gmail drive which allowed you to upload and download files from your gmail account.
Where do you get it, how does it work ?
(anyone interested by gmail invitations, i suppose everyone has got a gmail account but no one knows)
Well its true there's a 3rd party Shell extension available which will create a virtual network drive. Just like your C drive.

There is a Screenshot available on the site which should help u understand more about it. I aint used it myself yet but seems it can be handy.

Its called the Gmail Drive - and it adds a shell extention to My Computer which comes up as a new drive. Then you can drag and drop files to this drive and they will be sent as attachments to your Gmail account. However, Google sometimes releases a new login algorithm which can throw it out for a few days until someone patches the program. Go to http://www.viksoe.dk/code/gmail.htm for more details.
Additionally, you can use http://xmailharddrive.com/beta/ to use your Gmail account as a storage space - you don't have to install anything, and you have to be online to use Gmail for anything anyway.
Wow, I think this is a great idea. Because google offers so much space you might as well make a use of all the space they offer.
i dont really see the point as whats 2gig if you have a desent size hdd, only thing i see it been good for is if you use it as a shared documents with a freind or somthing like that!
If your using a mac theres also a program called gdisk that does something similar. its mostly used for backing up important files in a separate location. other than your hard drive.
How about yahoo mail network drive?

AIM.com offers 2gigs and IMAP
So it's not a google program?
I wanted to use it for backups of crucial files... I've been having my gmail account for a year now, and all i've managed to use is 113 MB (while not erasing anything)
So i have room for other things
