There are a few tutorials on www.gimp.org and link to other tutorial places. Deviant art have a few too. Places like Furl and de.licio.us have many link to all things gimp related.
And once you start playing around any Photoshop tutorial you can do with gimp too. Or just get GimpShop, which makes gimp more like PS. Related topics
