Just for my info,

What is the difference between passive mode and "no passive mode"?

Passive mode in the forums or in Frihosting??

Passive mode during FTP session.

Most FTP software have this option. I know that if the site is not working, I just uncheck the option, but I don't know what it does actually.

Key difference is ....In Active Mode Ftp Server tries to make a connection to the User PC and that too on high ports which is likely to be blocked if the user is behind the firewall.

In Passive Mode both connections are made by User PC to the FTP Server so there is less chance of it being blocked.
