Big slowdown in site

n0obie4life
Normally, when someone does a Cron Job.

The whole webserver slows down. That is most obvious on php - mysql pages.

I notice this only on the frihost.com aka cpanel server.

When that happens, you click on a link, the link you click on never loads.

Can something be done about this?

There should be a small usage restriction on cron jobs. I only have one that goes off every midnight at the moment. Maybe there is some way to space them out so that they don't all go off at once?

Or try get people to run their cron jobs whenever there is the least visitors to the site. Bondings could easily determine that, using the server logs and something like Webalizer or another log tool.

That would be around the time I'm on Rolling Eyes.

I think.

I'm certainly going to lower the server load, just don't have much time at the moment.

-There are a lot of inactive accounts in the list waiting to be removed.
-I'll also contact a few people about their websites. A lot of accounts are consuming way too much resources without really needing them. (flooded with bots, hotlinked, very heavy php-nuke templates, ...)
-I also might add some memory pretty soon.
