Total pants - typical end-times nonsense with a bit of extra anti-semitic crap thrown in. The idea that the OT is full of references to Jesus is just demonstrable rubbish and the assertion that the 7-stem candle - the memorah - found in Judaism is actually a Christian icon is insulting, offensive and pure Christian bigotry. As for 'the end is nigh' - Yes Paul DID believe that. ALL the early Christians did - they were millennialists - they expected the world to end with a second coming IN THEIR GENERATION.
For the following 2000 years we have had to put up with the refusal to acknowledge that they were just WRONG - and we still have idiots like this expecting the world to end in these times. Keep saying it long enough, I guess, and one day it must be right, but it sure as death isn't any sort of prophecy, and it sure as death isn't anything that a person with more than 2 fully developed brain cells should be worrying about.
We can do without this sort of garbage on these boards.
Ankhanu
Mirroring what Bikerman said. There's really extremely very little content of note in the video. We;ve been living in the "end times" since Jesus was alive, we've yet to see an end. I also find the the use of synonyms to fill out the 7 aspects of Jesus kind of funny... Oh geez, we've only got five words, but we need seven! To the thesaurus!!

As for the last question, the answer remains: imaginary.
Josso
Kinda off topic... Bikerman have you heard of "creationist museums"? If not you're going to have a heart attack out of pure rage.

Bikerman
Yes, I've heard about them. A chap who does an atheist podcast on YouTube did a whole show on Ken Ham's Creation Museum. Very high-concept, expensive displays and top-quality resources/lighting/curating. You can see lifesized dioramas showing men and dinosaurs living together - that sort of crap.
That doesn't worry me so much - little moral difference between that and the casinos that the mob setup in Las Vegas.
What DOES worry and anger me is the fact that local schools apparently take the kids round the museum on field trips. I would like 10 minutes in a room with my US teaching colleagues who do that, just 10 minutes would do - in a quiet, preferably soundproofed room, with, perhaps, a cricket bat for use as a teaching aid....I'm sure they would reconsider.....
Ankhanu
Given psychology of resistance, it may only strengthen their terrible resolve Wink
Bikerman
Well, any such resolve would be admirable of course, and would certainly merit full teaching honours, with a 21 bell salute......at the funeral..

Prophecy will be fulfilled in due time. The Word is very clear about it, and even though the fulfillment may tarry we need to wait patiently for it. Christ will return.

It seems we've slightly gotten off the topic.

It would be nice to get some discussion on the question, How do you see God? Does your view of God lean towards one side or the other?

Already been hit upon -

I imagine several of us who've responded so far feel much the same way. Does this lean one way or the other? Yes, it leans heavily.

You have faith that "prophecy will be fulfilled in due time", but I see no reason as to why you think this way, other than wanting to. "The Word" may be clear (though I don't think it's THAT clear, and that the time frame it suggests has long since lapsed), but clarity is not justification for believing it to be true.

LOL..well good luck with that. Yes, the 'word' WAS very clear - it states very clearly that the second coming will happen - and it apparently happened sometime in the 1st century. I think you must have missed it like everyone else. *sigh* I think you are another example of someone who doesn't read the bible and yet speaks as though they were an expert in what it says. I bet you can't even quote the passages where 'the word is very clear' can you? Typical, and oh so damn predictable.....just once, give me a Christian who has read the bible....
Go and read Matthew 24. Jesus describes EXACTLY what will happen - very clear. He also says WHEN it will happen - verse 34:
Quote:
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

Now, unless you know any 2000yr old Palestinians, as I said, you missed it.

Yes, because you start a discussion about a piece of nonsense and then make gnomic references to 'the word is very clear' when you obviously haven't understood the nonsense or read the word. What did you expect, free education?

If you want uncritical acceptance of starting assertions and unsupported speculation about deities then you are in the wrong forum - try 'faith'. In THIS forum when you make assertions about things being very clear, you need to be able to back it up.

haha, that is the answer, it is all explained!... if you just listen to what the artist says in the beginning...

This is just to make money/have dominance!

God, if ever, should say just as everyone else: One son is not more worth than the other!
No one one can take away sin from the other!

A better recording... of the song....

You most likely wont listen to this vid from beginning to end. But its does mention The two sides of God

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNlTYCOkOKQ

I normally don't follow this sort of thing. But something is wrong with this world.

I think some evil force is tricking us. So if evil exist there must be some type of good force (I hope)
Bikerman
Do you not feel embarrassed when you post crap like that? Not ashamed?
Obviously not. I was tempted to just bin it, but I don't really want to have to censor material unless it obviously breaks TOS. This probably doesn't but it should - there should be a rule about posting material which is so obviously laughable nonsense but un-funny in its attempt to part the gullible from their money as well as their remaining brain-cells.

So I decided not to bin it and I made a real effort to watch as much as I could before I was forced to turn it off. 10 minutes was all I could stand and I think that was good going.

Don't bother watching this unless you are either researching nonsense or you are masochistic.

I truly understand your point. But are there any rational points of view when discussing the concept of god.

But what caught my attention with Jordan Maxwell is his modern day conspiracy dialogue combined with the study of ancient religious doctrine.

The original poster enquired about the 2 sides of God. Jordan Maxwell explains the planet Saturn is evil and Venus is good. But its way too long for casual viewing.
Bikerman
Yes there are rational points. Some of them are interesting - why do religions with incredible dogmas survive and thrive? To look at such questions one needs to be rational, understand psychology, linguistics and a heap of other stuff.
The actual dogmas are certainly mumbo-jumbo - but that is by design and the really interesting questions are to do with what bits of mumbo-jumbo do well, as memes, and how the different bits get grouped together to form meme-plexes, groups of ideas which are better at reproducing as a group than as individuals. If we understood why, for example, most God myths have the same ideas over and over (virgin birth, ritual death/rebirth and the rest of the Raglan 'hero' criteria) then we would know much more about human psychology

What you don't need is some clown saying that it is all explained by Saturn being evil - this being the root cause of all war, all discord and all the bad stuff in the world.

(It was at that point I had to turn him off before I did something I might regret later like punching the screen)

Was reading recently where the creation museum and the local zoo in the same area got together to do a combined advertising campaign. They put together a joint admission ticket to try and attract more tourists to the area.
The zoo got so much flak about join up with the creationists they had to pull out and cancel the joint advertising. There is obviously still some strong sentiment over the creation museum.

For some reason many of us get quite upset and angry when apparent authority figures stand in front of our classes and lie their scumbag heads off, try to scare the kids with idiot tales about bogeymen, and try to con them into joining their perverted club, and handing over their dosh to finance more scum to do the same to more kids. Yes, I know, silly of us isn't it? It's probably just some weird teacher-thing......

The last time I was in the States, the family all went off to church on Sunday morning and I stayed home with the flu. I found some church on TV and watched that but was a bit dismayed at the end when the guy was trying to raise $1Million.
So I switched over to another church show and he was not even bothering preaching. He just said that they had the one hour of TV show to raise $1Million.

Seems like big business now over there.
Bikerman
The Americans are just more open and more overt about it. The same thing goes on everywhere - it is just that a good number of US con-merchants make a lot of money from their scam whereas most in other countries have to make to with elevated status or social position or ego trip or whatever else drives them.
nickfyoung
Was reading where the Singapore Government was having a crackdown on churches and their finances. One local guy there who is very popular on TV, Joseph Prince, had to go off salary, $150,000, and work as a volunteer for the church, probably getting his salary in cash under the counter. They also had to disclose the investment companies that the church had, several of them, that owns high rises etc and were worth $millions. Big business.
Bikerman
Nothing unusual about that. Most large religious organisations that I can think of are pretty much the same, in terms of hoarding vast amounts of wealth. The Catholics are the masters, but the Anglicans do pretty well, and the US Protestant churches are worth billions. The only honourable exception that comes to mind would be the Quakers

hm, I don't think a video of the illuminati , or what it is called, is a mis-posting.

Actually, the story is the same in many ways. People will do powermongering... In what ways? All religons, all masonry, aso...

ok, I probably will not see the whole 3 hours... but I have heard it before!

Ok, I think some ideas is out there Smile But still what is worst??? The way the concept is happening today or the theories about it?
spinout
Hm, the illuminati video.... sh*t that guy is really into the conspiracies in every way!

hehe, quite fun. I think he has some things a bit wrong - take the word christ... What do christ mean???
Possum
I'm not too sure I should of posted it..

Bikerman took me to task over it

Quote:

I think Im just doing conspiracies right now.. Unfortunately a friend sent me a link to Alex Jones and I haven't been the same since.. lol
Bikerman
If people wish to take conspiracy theories seriously then that is their prerogative, I simply question whether such material has any place in this particular forum.
spinout
Hm, conspiracy is very very very popular today. flooded in FB and all the other social networks ... fun ? Yes, very fun indeed! So not having them in a forum means that that forum is actually dead...

Then the word "crap" associated with conspiracy... Well the word itself is needed to have a lively living forum... The word "ashamed" goes too, all in the means of having a living forum. Flaming is always needed.

What is so fun with conspiracies? Well you have the point of undodgeable humor! Just presenting the film about we never was to the moon to the man who said "a small step..." - hehe that is actually so funny. And it is a bit bizarre how we acutally love this kind of humor? It comes from nowhere to the poor fellow and goes ontop of them and leaves them with their jaw hanging to the floor. A bit of slapstick in a way! Cool

I do admit that I could spend much more time studying the Bible. But I have read the Bible from cover to cover twice and some of the books of the Bible even dozens of times through.

Yes, I do know very well the passage you quoted from Matthew 24. There are different interpretations on that passage.

You suggested that I should have posted this topic on the "Faith" forum. Would you be so kind as to move this topic there or else allow me to start a new topic there about this issue.

Thank you and God bless you Bikerman!
