Help! complex number

Klaw 2
Okay so I have a mathcad8 file that does some calculations and eventually arrives at a complex number, for example:

2 + 3i

now I need the separate the real number form the imaginary number. I can't find a function that does this is there some formula I can use to achieve this?

If it has a function to calculate the conjugate you can use that to calculate the real and imaginary parts.

If z = 2 + 3i then the conjugate Co(z) = 2 - 3i.

To calculate the real part: Re(z) = (z + Co(z)) / 2 = (2 + 3i + 2 - 3i) / 2 = 4 / 2 = 2

To calculate the imaginary part: Im(z) = (z - Co(z)) / 2i = (2 + 3i - 2 + 3i) / 2i = 6i / 2i = 3

ok thanks; just for future reference the function in mathcad 8 is:
Im(z) returns the imaginary part z...
Re(z) returns the real part of z...
