Discussing about the end of the world is in my eyes pure madness.
Earth will remain until the universe decide when earth must exterminated.
How is a big question. But one fact is correct earth will be exterminated.
So as my end conclusion: discussing about the end of the world STOP this.

This is very interesting problem.mankind own nuclear weapon to destroy themself,but at same time,some of them belief all kinds of religion to help them calm,but on the other hand,some of religion think other religion is evil.so religion's dispute produce.

the world will end when the sun goes supernova (or shortly before that moment!). Nothing before, and certainly not after. It is truly a sign of self-importance to think that the 'world will end' due to some human catastrophic event. Even if every nuclear bomb were to go off today.. the earth would still spin, the sun would still shine.... now, will there be humans left after all that carnage? maybe? would they be forever screwed because of nuclear fallout? likely. would humans cease to exist? perhaps... BUT the world will not end.
my geology teacher informed our class that a giant asteroid was on a collision course with Earth to hit in... o say 10,000 years

We don't know when the world will end, and anyone who says they do needs a physiciatric examination. But we do get an idea from prophecys, such as those in the book of Revelation. This leads us to believe that it may be soon. I don't pretend to know when, but I believe it will be soon. And in actuallity, the world will not be destroyed at the rapture. The most widely accepted belief is that there will be a seven year tribulation immediatly after the rapture. This will be followed by the millennial reign. If you are interested in more of my opinions on this, please PM me. It is difficult to talk about this while staying within the bounds of the rules.

I think he is so right and for me this is the answer..
I believe the world will end one day.. Humans are juz like cancer cells in the body (in this case, Earth).. They are only concerned about growing bigger and bigger, and one day, the whole body will collapse, Earth will die, depleted of all natural resources, bringing all other organisms along wif it.. 
Humanity will end in about 100 years. The world will be destroyed by the sun in 5 billion years.

Personally I'm going for pandemic explanation. Human life as we know it will cease to exist, and where humanity survives, it will be somewhat like a combination between Mad Max, Dark Angel and Buck Rogers 
God knows when the world will end... Still I have this feeling that it will be in short period of time... I am the father of a 3 year girl and I hope she will able to have a life at least as long as mine before the whole thing will collapse... Things have changed drastically since 25 years, we use and abuse the planet on a very big scale... The Mayan calendar stops in 2012 when according to them the world will end. I hope they were wrong... Still I can sense the madness and unconsidered behaviour of most humans. They look at this world like if it was a big supermarket. Such a shame...

Humans will live if the world goes, because humanity can obviously not destroy themselves and not the world in one fell swoop. It just wouldn't happen. Humans will leave earth before it goes because we are an intelligent species and will do whatever we can to survive, like other organisms. Whenever the earth is destroyed, it will be far in the future, and by then we will have the technology to get out of this place. Look at how much we accomplished in the 20th century alone.

All of the races that talked/wrote about the end of the world are all dead, coinsidence? I think not! The end of the world will be when we all get killed by a great meteor that smites us...
I think there is truth to that....we did intercept an asteriod, so it is possible to prevent this, but 2 or 3??
there are also many things that threaten us, ie black holes and supernovas, wich we cant prevent at alll. i
also any advanced tech. could be used with malice, and is prone to accidents...

The world will come to an end when the sun engulfs it in another 4.5 billion years.. The question is will earth be there when the sun expands coz

From what I'd read, the sun will not go "Boom".
It's going to end in a rather less spectacular manner.
Also the destruction of the rest of the solar system will not be just "near" it will be quite comprehensive.
Lets not think to highly of mankind, we dont even have the means to destroy the world, we can wipe ourselves from the face of it, but the world would still be here and would eventually recover, just as it dd after the catasrophic event which brought an end to the dinosaurs and probably at other times we dont yet know about too. Even a collision with a large object from space wouldnt bring an end totally it would exist in some state afterwards, so maybe the end wont be until the sun gives up and incinerates the earth, then retreats to a dwarf, where we will be by this time who knows, its a long long way off by which time who knows how we will have evolved if we're still around, though maybe we should be channeling our energies into space exploration and surviving out there instead of bickering between one another.

Of course not! <--- your first gut reaction, of course.. And yes, my first gut reaction. Even after spending time thinking about it / writing about it here - I do not consider it to be a "truth" that I will let rule the way in which I live my life.. It is however, an intellectual possiblity!
I think I'm goign to write my answer in notepad or something and then copy it here once its done, its interesting.. In the mean time, maybe responses to the question would prove fruitfull - HAS THE WORLD ALREADY ENDED?

Mmm didn't we see this exact post under another name less then a month ago?
I think the end of the world is too close.Unless we find an alternative energy source to petrol, the conflicts on it ( some may pretend to seen like declaring war on other issues) will go on. And the less petrol is the more conflict maybe the more chaos. As long as we need energy (means always) the world will be in danger.

Theres something called skip reading, which is where either the Bible or the Keran (Appologies for poor spelling) Has hidden messages in it. If you take something like every sixth word, it will make a sentance. These sentances seem to be some kind of prediction. And whats more they seem to be right. Apparently this form of prediction has foretold the assasination of various American presidents, September 11, world war 2,and the end of the world in 2006. I'm sorry i can't give much useful information, as i saw this on TV about three years ago. But it really stuck in my head, because time and time again these people wre saying "This is going to happen" And it did.
Then again, the end of the world doesn't have to mean the end of human life. The industrial revelotuion was supposed to be the end of the world.
I think that the increase in natural disasters is pointing to something big thats going to happen. It is possible that there could be several huge earthquakes which wipe out a lot of civilisation as it is, and force humans to rebuild their lives, and live differently

the bible says no one know when 'the time' will come, all what we can do is keeping be prepared.
The bible also says : you will see the end of the world while you still alive... ", Well, these words were wirtten thousands of years ago. People in that years has no chance to read see the end of the world.
therefor I am confuse. But soon I found some other words in the bile: 'in the beginning of the end of the world, people will fight with people, nations will fight with nations, some speciall phenomenon will appear in the world such as disaster or earthquake..."

the world will end when somebody completely insane gets a hold of a nuke. Then comes the nuclear war, then comes a slow and painful death for any survivors.
It is my opinion that (even according to Creation) "nature" was here before us (long before us in some views/interpretations) I think that man can do little against it despite our arrogance, and that nature will destroy us. Perhaps we will devolve into a pile of gelatinous goo... that would be cool.
