External Drive OS install

Anyone knows how i can install XP in a USB External drive, and boot my pc from there?
I mean: My idea is to have one OS in the internal disc, and another OS in my 300G external drive USB. I wont to make a OS portable so that a could work with my home pc and my work place pc. It is possible i know but how to do that?

hmm.. Easy.. You can try this.. But warning.. its might take sometime as its much slower.

Put in OS disc before startup. Boot from CD.
Just follow the instructions there and you will be able to select a drive to install the OS.

Hmmm... have you tried this? I cant belive if Windows will let you select USB drive for instalation.
Other thing, there is not easy to order PC boot from USB

And another thing, you can't install windows on one PC, and run it on another. The only way you CAN do that, is by having the same motherboard and chipset in both PC's. But I doubt that's the case.

Hmmm I remember having Redhat 8.0 on USB drive... but because the bios was too old to reconise USB I needed a boot partition on the internal drive to handle the USB.
