There is an auto installer for phpBB in Fantastico, is it same as I download from PHPBB website?

i think it is the same. Unless the new released version is not automatically updated in Fantastico.

It's the same.
Just that...fantastico does everything automatically, adds a few crappy files like fantversion.php...and you don't get control over dbname.. I would recommend installing it yourself. You learn more besides. Summer
Yes it is the same from phpbb.com and its version if 2.0.17 . It is pretty new , but the latest is 2.0.18 , I heard from noobie4life .
