The Onion

Anybody else read The Onion or watch any of their videos. After reading the real news, (and loosing all hope in humanity) I am starting to make it a habit of reading or watching select Onion productions to make myself laugh at what a horrible species we are.

I watched this one the other day and it was great! http://www.theonion.com/video/special-boy-with-freakishly-large-brain-wins-spell,14334/

The best is when they have a little truth to them and embellish so badly that you can't help but think "it could be worse".

It's always funny when people cite Onion articles believing them to be real but that's really the only time I get to read it (which isn't that common). The articles themselves tend to be only slightly funny to me, though, so I don't check them out on my own.

Looked as though the "script" made something out of the boy's circumstances that never were. If that were his first experience at being badgered with inaccuracies by the media, I'm dead certain he'd have thought the two interviewers were liars.

Hilarious! But yes, almost but not quite ridiculous.

I too love it when media agencies around the world republish stories from them as truth. My personal favorite was the Kim Jong Eun fiasco from the People's Daily in China.

I am sure the kid knew what was coming, and was advised to get as upset as possible about it, but it's such good comedy regardless. Sort of like all the "reality shows" that are mostly scripted and yet try to mislead people into believing that it is real (Pawn Stars, and Duck Dynasty come to mind).
