I haven't used xp in a couple of years but
I think you can change that without any program. small icons 16/16 and a label.

It tired it on Windows 7.
It worked.

in windows 7 you can just hold control and use the mouse scroll to re-size the icons...

if you look at the source code of that codeplex project you can see that the application does the same thing

I usually try to keep my desktop clean and empty for several reasons. the most important one is that it can get messy after a while and also that it effects performance
