I would think Microsoft Essential is quiet reliable.
Another good free choice is Avira Free Antivirus.

Comodo releases can be buggy. When they work, they work great. When they dont' they bog down your machine.

I use Microsoft Essentials and it work sjust fine. You can also try the free edition of adaware (www.adaware.com) which works fine as well.[/url]

I guess Microsoft essential is good specially if you have Microsoft operating system. the only problem i guess is the updating is very slow..

I'm a fan of Microsoft Security Essentials, and that's what I'm using now on all my PCs. No problems with it (yet), and I love how transparent it is. It also runs scans on individual files very quickly, especially compared to McAfee (I scan every file I download manually, just to be extra safe).

May be Microsoft Security Essentials is not as good as I thought: Microsoft Security Essentials fails AV-Test

Well damn. From their results, it looks like Avast! may be the best free anti-virus.
