Serious discussions are labeled intolerant but

gonzo
Frequently when some of us start a given topic the hordes gush in clamoring, spewing invectives and shouting intolerance and other such blather. Topics lacking in abstracted substance are subjectively flagged as spam, which ironically is its own form of intolerance. That aside there seems to be a gross deficiency in its definition.

The FH community or its overlords need settle on a tone for this forum. It either encourages productive discussion on worthy topics to the exclusion of any other or it tolerates the gambit. Additionally , to avoid hypocrisy, the FH enforcers need to decide to fully embrace their draconian bent or not and in either case make patently clear the minutiae of their ordinances.

What say you, the community? Please stave off your sycophantic tendacies before replying.

Hey gonzo,

Is this the first topic that you made here without a poll?
gonzo
hehe maybe you're not the only one in the dark on the subject. Why don't you start a poll? Wink

I'm just one of the horde Smile Wow gonzo, what a great language! You look really upset about this.

But isn't it possible to PM the moderator who closed your topic if he would *pleaz* *pleaz* be so kindly to reopen it? I think they can. Or PM one of them if someone is spamming your subject if they can remove the clutter.

Apart from that I see that it is difficult to keep a topic alive. There are so much posts in here that your post goes down when no one answers in one or two days. It would be great if there could be a 'general important chat' or 'general serious chat' or something like that, where you can move a longer discussion wich you want to preserve.

Succes!

Note: what is 'gambit'?

In case you didn't know, posts are snipped/threads are locked based on the Frihost Rules
By the way, Do you know how many times members post posts that break these rules, often in the same post?

productive discussion

We understand that people tend to get a little worked up/passionate when arguing about something that matters to them. Normally, users are warned, but the posts which cannot be ignored or let off with just a warning are snipped, and utter rubbish threads are locked.

Frihost is a free-for-all. We cater to people from all over the world with varied interests. A lot of them just want to have fun with their posts, while others always want serious discussion, the extremities of both categories can be catastrophic for any forums. Hence the rules, on which moderating on this site is based.

I feel that the moderators are doing a great job.
I find it ironic that Gonzo is complaining because I considered him to be one of the regular frihost members who stretches/breaks the rules most often (regarding disrespect, superiority of his religion, etc.)

Thank you moderators for maintaining this site for us. I hope you aren't discouraged by Gonzo's comments. I think we are very lucky to have this free forum and free webhosting (extremely uncommon to find such a great place)

If anybody else feels appreciative speak up. Often complainers make more noise than the appreciative. We musn't be drowned out.

Thanks again.

Nah. I'm sure we won't. There are often one or two troublemakers.
