Deep Sea Anglers

bluepig83
I read recently about the reproduction process of deep sea anglers, and it was....................

So apparently, male anglers are born pretty weak and useless, except they do have an amazing sense of smell, primarily honed in on the scent of female deep sea angler pheromones. Pretty much they spend most of their lives swimming around trying to find a female.

Now the females, on the other hand, are these beasts of a fish, with huge sharp teethed maws - pretty much what you would envision when you think of deep sea angers. The females are the ones with the glowing appendage hanging in front of its head.

So a female just swims along doing its thing, and a male angler picks up her scent, comes by, and pretty much bites into her. It's like a puny thing latching onto this big ginormous lady-brute. And that biting action releases an enzyme that begins to dissolve not only the female's skin but also the male's mouth. As that enzyme works, it slowly dissolves the male's brain, lungs, other internal organs, and fuses the male into the female, including the circulatory system. Basically, the male melts into the female...except for his testes, which actually continue to grow bigger. The thing is, this can happen with multiple males as they come into contact with the female. That's right, you end up with this huge monster of a female fish sporting random testes all over her body.

Yeah.......
