Missing or Corrupt "ntoskrnl.exe" file

bullamakanka
I have an older PC with Windows2000. It will not boot, citing a missing or corrupt "ntoskrnl.exe" file.

The PC has a floppy drive and CD drive. I do not have the original system disks (the computer was bought used).

I'm able to mount the PC disk onto my Mac using a Kingwin EZ-Connect kit; it shows up as a regular volume. However, I am not able to copy anything to it (read only). So whatever file I'm able to get to the Mac, I cannot just straight copy to the PC volume and hope that works.

Any thoughts on how I might be able to get this file onto the PC? Unlock the volume to make it Read/Write?

Thanks...

Try getting a Linux Livecd and mounting your harddrive with it and restore that file.
