I am posting products my company has in stock on my website. I have everything done but i haev not decided on how to hold my img's Would you guys suggest just posting a .filename in the sql db or is their other ways that would be simpler or safer ? I understand how to do the filename and get them to post on the site . But i read a while back their is a way i can just browse choose the picture/file and it will upload it somehow and keep it stored in my db. can someone let me know what this process involves and point me to a site that has a good tutorial... I'll need to know how to setup my db table for that section in the row also..

What about this
$image = comes from upload from

copy my image to a directory using the name as the users's ip
$ip=$REMOTE_ADDR;

copy($image, "./temporary/".$ip."");

//open the copied image, ready to encode into text to go into the database
$filename1 = "./temporary/".$REMOTE_ADDR;
$fp1 = fopen($filename1, "r");

//record the image contents into a variable
$contents1 = fread($fp1, filesize($filename1));

//close the file
fclose($fp1);

//encode the image into text
$encoded = chunk_split(base64_encode($contents1));

//insert information into the database
mysql_query("INSERT INTO images (img,data)"."VALUES ('NULL', '$encoded')");

//delete the temporary file we made
unlink($filename1);

I found a few sites and rambled across one that has some good info and stuck them together and got some ideas.. now i can take this and use the same process and make my own yes ? That will do what i want ? I just have to create the code now ? yes ?
