Modx Install Tip (Also should fix other 500 errors)

darthrevan
I was having a problem installing Modx, due to file permissions being set to 664 instead of 644. So here is a tip for people that uses Linux or similar.

Create a empty file named something like fixperm; in the file put:
Code:

find . -type f -exec chmod 644 {}; \
find . -type d -exec chmod 755 {}; \

and then chmod +x fixperm and enter the modx file directory and do:
Code:
./fixperm

You could also simply run the above code in terminal instead of putting the code into a text file.

Next you should do tar cvf modx.tar modx-*
*NOTE for modx-* the * is the version

Next do gzip modx-*.tar and it will create a gzip file that you can upload to your public_html folder and extract with the correct permissions needed to install Modx.

I hope this helps, this was giving me issues until I did the above steps.
