Hard disk noises when using Lubuntu..

likeabreeze
I have tried several linux systems on my PC in the past seven days, and when I was using Lubuntu, the hard disk gave noises whenever I clicked the menu or even slightly moved the mouse!! hey, Lubuntu is said to be a fast and lightweight operating system, why it made my hard disk so noisy, and it seems to be rather heavyweight...(Does hard disk noises necessarily mean Lubuntu is not suitable for me?)
yeah, I am currently using Xubuntu, no hard disk noises anymore, everything goes pretty well.

You might want to try your Disk Utility program, and see if your disk has errors. A lot of seek activity can be a sign that it is repositioning to find a bad track that has been moved. I think the problem showing up only in Lubuntu might be just coincidence, but if there's a problem with the disk it's lucky that it brought your attention to it.
