If the media's role is to simply report the facts, why in the fawk are they modifying photographs? The media loves to twist the facts... present them to fit pre-conceived conclusions, often that fit some political agenda (right or left). If a picture tells a 1000 words, I would say about 50 of the ones they published were out-right lies.
Is this a big deal? No. It's just another example of why America has come to mistrust the self-annointed 4th branch of government as much as the other three.

| Editor's note: The photo of Condoleezza Rice that originally accompanied this story was altered in a manner that did not meet USA TODAY's editorial standards. The photo has been replaced by a properly adjusted copy. Photos published online are routinely cropped for size and adjusted for brightness and sharpness to optimize their appearance. In this case, after sharpening the photo for clarity, the editor brightened a portion of Rice's face, giving her eyes an unnatural appearance. This resulted in a distortion of the original not in keeping with our editorial standards. |
