password protected directories with directadmin?

ml
hi,

i wanted to use direct admin to create a password protected directory.
it asks me about my username and my password and it creates the .htaccess-file.
but apparently it doesent create the .htpasswd file.

i later created one myself in the directory specified in the htaccess and it worked fine.

is this a bug in directadmin or did i make something wrong?

I can't tell you wether it is a bug or not. But most likely it should work, you probably forgot to do something in DirectAdmin. By the way, did you select the directory you wanted to protect?

im sure i did everything right because even the htaccess fiel got created in the right folder:

errorlog said:
Code:
[Wed Oct 26 08:03:23 2005] [error] [client xx.xx.x.xxx] (2)No such file or directory: Could not open password file: /home/ml1/domains/martin.frih.net/.htpasswd/public_html/somefolder/.htpasswd

so i made up a htpasswd file myselft and put it there and so it worked in the end
