I can successfully connect to the Internet by choosing "Obtain an IP address automatically" and "Obtain DNS server address automatically" at TCP/IP properties, after connecting to the Internet, we can get the IP Address, Subnet Mask, and Default Gateway in Connection status, but there is not DNS server, how to get it?
Tons of Thanks!
if your dhcp server didn't provide it, you have to set it manually. you can set it manually and obtain IP automatically in your setting.
you can use google dns (126.96.36.199 and 188.8.131.52).
EDIT: Start/Run/ type "cmd" and then enter that command. (without the ?)
this isn't a question of not having one but more of displaying the one actualy set.
if you type frihost.com and you get this website then you have a dns server set, otherwise your browser wouldn't know what to do with the url.
The command you should use depends on the Operating system you are using. Maybe asking for nslookup (which is used to make DNS questions) will tell you the server you are pointing at the moment. It works in windows and even it's deprecated in Linux, it's still supported in many of them.
