Hawthorne Heights' The Silence in Black and White
Emery's The Weak's End
Emery's The Question
Fall Out Boy's Take This to Your Grave
Mae's The Everglow
Simple Plan's Still Not Getting Any
Taking Back Sunday's Where You Want to Be
Thursday's Full Collapse
Thursday's War All the Time
Yellowcard's Ocean Avenue
Letter Kills' The Bridge
At the Drive-In's Relationship of Command
Coheed & Cambria's In Keeping Secrets of Silent Earth: 3
Dashboard Confessional's The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most
Refused's The Shape of Punk to Come

From Autumn to Ashes' The Fiction We Live

There are a few to get you started.

If there are other people in here who enjoy the same type of music I do, maybe you would want to post your favorite emo or hardcore bands as well? I'd really love to get a feel for what other people are listening to.

I think if anyone here listened to any emotive hardcore, or even just plain hardcore, it would hurt your virgin ears. Get your hands on some Rites of Spring if possible, it'll open your eyes... or ears, lol.
Srs2388
Hawthorne Heights are okay... i didn't know they were concidered 'emo' though...
actualeffection
Laughing I didn't see any hardcore bands in there at all. Seriously.

Hardcore bands:
The Hills Have Eyes
Architect
Horse The Band
The Locust
Ed Gein
The Fall of Troy
The Dillinger Escape Plan
Pink Handgrenade

Althoughhhh...

At The Drive In is pretty close [post-hardcore] as is thursday [post-hardcore/emo]. I really like those two bands as well. Just saying though, you don't have any real hardcore in that list. =P.

sometimes, listen too much of emo can get me sick of it...

I'm curious why you quoted blachearts post? can't you you tink of anything better than that intelligents' ladies post? Stand up and speak for yourself if it what's you believe, or say nothing at all.
Bakera
I don't think it gets any better the following:
The Blood Brothers
Chiodos
Circa Survive
The Sound Of Animals Fighting
Saosin
The Mars Volta

I enjoy quite a few of bands that have been listed as well. And emotive hardcore? I've never even heard such a thing. Genres are becoming too deeply defined for me. I like to keep things generalized.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but your idea of emo must be _SO_ warped.

Oh, unless your talking about the 11 year old scene kid emo.

Hawthorne Heights - Yeah, scene style.
Taking Back Sunday - No.

Have some good hardcore bands, just to keep it on topic:

Throwdown
Comeback Kid
Atreyu
Avenged Sevenfold
Bleeding Through
Enter Shikari

Smile

Has anyone mentioned Brand New yet?

I thought Deja Entendu was one of the best albums of 2004. And the song Sic transit gloria had a really cool video which always helps.

Death Cab are good as well, but I find I can't listen to a full album of theres without having to have a break to listen to someone being... you know... happy about stuff.
Hobbit
Yeah, they're not emo Laughing . I like 'emo' as well.
jayrelle
Im also into emo music right now and I really love to listen to this genre because they really touch your heart by just hearing their songs. My favorite emo bands are

-My Chemical Romance - I really love the ghost of you and demolition lovers
-The Used - On my own and poetic tragedy
-Yellow card - Only one and gifts and curses
-Dashboard Confessionals - Bitter Pill and Best Deception..
TAking back sunday - this photograph is proof and you're so last summer

Yay for Brand New!!! I was reading this thread shaking my head at some of the pitiful excuses for emo mentioned and literally jumped for joy when I saw Brand New. (They're one of my favourite bands)

There's too many scene kids around now spitting on the good name of real emo. Now it's just a trend and it's awful.

Tomass - Your idea of emo's been formulated through shitty media and posing scene kids. Congratulations, you've just made a tool outta yourself infront of a bunch of people that actually like real emo.

Jayrelle - MCR and Yellowcard definately aren't emo. The others may be considered emo, depends who you ask.

See, it's people like that that give emo a band name.

My bands of choice:
Brand New
Jimmy Eat World
The Fall of Troy
Taking Back Sunday (Number Five with a Bullet is the best song)

Though it's wrong to nitpick about what's what genre. I guess I just get so angry about it cause of all the posers floating around the word emo.
suicidecore
emo ?! hmm

Circle Takes the Square
Hot Cross
Orchid
Kite Flying Society
Saetia
anxiety1

TribalArt
Not meaning to be rude or nothing, but if you don't like 'emo' music please do not spoil a good forum.

Even though everyone is allowed freedom of speech but respect others choices.

Hawthorne Hieghts
Amber Pacific - I think they are
Brand New
Breaking Benjamin
Armor For Sleep
Funeral For A Friend.
molif
