Wilma Picks Up Speed, Heads for Florida

arno
KEY WEST, Fla. - Hurricane Wilma was headed toward Florida on Sunday and expected to pick up speed "like a rocket," and thousands of residents had been ordered to evacuate.
The southern half of Florida's peninsula was under a hurricane warning Sunday in anticipation of Wilma, a Category 2 storm with 100 mph sustained wind. Although still far from the state, Wilma's outer bands of rain had already caused street flooding in South Florida.
Tropical storm-force wind was expected to begin lashing the state late Sunday and meteorologists said the heart of the storm was expected to roar across the state Monday.

I live in South Florida I dont know how long from The Key's but its close. The Weather Center said its going to be a Category 3 when it hits. I dont feel any winds or anything yet from the bands but when it comes in I will know its comming. I dont think its going not going to be that bad but anything can happen. I hope for the least to happen. I was not ordered to evacuate but lots of people are evacuating to my area because it has alot of Storm proof buildings. All Government and Schools are closed for Monday and Tuesday and they dont usually do that they take it day by day when they closing something like that. Hope for the best for me Smile.

The eye of hurricane Wilma will leave Florida in a couple of hours, but the rest of Wilma will move very slowly over Florida.

I saw it just on a radar image of the National Weather Centre.

If someone is interested in viewing the progress of Wilma, go to the next websites, click on the link you can see wilma moving:

If it is not enough there is already a new storm developing, called Alpha.

There is not much known about him, but on the website of the National Weather Centre you can find more info about him and how he will develop.
