Sudoku Assistenten

Check out the website of Sudoku Assistenten.

http://www.sudoku.frihost.net/

Our features:
• The possibility to type in, save and solve any Sudoku you can find in newspapers or on the Internet.
• Several different solving methods available.
• An exellent hint-feature, that will give you anything from a small push in the right direction, to easy, graphic explanations of complicated solving-methods.
• The possibility to rate the difficulty and determine the required solving-techniques for any Sudoku

All this is pretty much what all the other sudoku-programs on the net can offer too, but we also have:

• THE POSSIBILITY TO MAKE YOUR OWN SUDOKU!
Forget unpersonal, computer-generated sudokus. This program will let you make your own sudokus from scratch, without any pre-knowledge about it. Just start typing in numbers, and off you go! Smile and combined with this we have:
• An interactive forum combined with the program, that will let you download and post Sudokus made by yourself and others! In other words an internet resource of sudokus made by real people all over the world! What is the daily sudoku in a newpaper compared to a sudoku made by Nina (24) from Norway or Wendy (4Cool from Australia! Smile

And it's all FREE! We offer much more stuff that most sudoku-programs that charge a fortune for their software, but ours are free! Why? Because we want to build up a internet community where people that love Sudoku can learn, share and download sudokus with other people! Smile It's Sudoku made personal, and we believe in it!

Nice collection of Sudoku links... minus one: websudoku.com

Want to get visitors of your site hooked on it? Do like they do and have them solve a puzzle online with something similar to websudoku's javascript version. Enhanced with hints and suggestions I think it'd be a killer!

Thanks a lot Very Happy

Our goals is to make THE PERFECT Sudoku program, and to build up a large Internet sudoku "community" on our forum where you can discuss su doku generally, and our program, and even upload your own made sudokus by using Sudoku Assistenten.

If anyone has something they want to say (about adding features, removing bad stuff etc.) so we can improve our program and website, please tell us on our forums.

I think so.

I do not know anything about sudoku.

What's it?

Could anyone tell me?

If you want to know what sudoku is, then you can read a little about it on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sudoku

You can also read about it on http://www.sudoku.com/, the originally sudoku home page made by the creator of sudoku (or so he says he is...)

It΄s actually many discussions about where sudoku came from and who made it.

I have also heard that web Nikoli says that they are the creators of sudoku

Ha !!

I actually wanted to write a sudoku solver on Matlab, but i guess i'm not giong to have to do it? You do use a linear matrix resolution to solve the problem right ?

Anyway, i doubt this is going to interest someone Wink
erlendhg
I don't quite understand you!

What is a "linear matrix resolution"???

Anyway...
We're using the programming language Liberty Basic to make the program.
You can have a look at it here:

No, we don't use "linear matrix resolution", that is concidered "brute force" and that just takes all the fun out of making a solver program. (for anyone that does not understand this: "brute force" means that the computer tries millions of different solutions, until it finds the right one...)

Our solver is a so called "human-based-solver", which means that all the techniques that we use to solve it are similar to the techniques you would use to solve a sudoku yourself. A short overview is:

1. looks for the "obvious" numbers. If there is one square in the board that can only be the number 5, then it puts that 5 there.

2. looks for "single candidates". This means the program look at a line (or a box) on the sudoku-board and sees if there is only one square in that line that could possibly contain the number 5. If so, that has to be a 5.

3. looks for box-line and line-box

4. looks for subsets (normal and hidden)

5. looks for strong link patterns (x-wing, skyscraper, 2-string-kite,
swordfish, jellyfish etc.)

6. looks for xy-wings

and that pretty much covers all the logical techniques known to sudoku-solvers. If the sudoku won't solve afer this then the sudoku would require an trial-and-error approach to be solved, and that is not a real sudoku in my book... Smile

for further explanation of these solving-techniques, just download our program, and use the "hint" feature to see and learn. http://www.sudoku.frihost.net

You can also ask questions in our forum here: http://sudoku.frihost.net/forum/index.php

thanks! Smile
