Need help with Backup Script

I'm using the script provided at http://piratecove.org/website-backup-script/

MYSQL="$(which mysql)"
MYSQLDUMP="$(which mysqldump)"
GZIP="$(which gzip)"

What do I insert for those lines?

You don't. Those lines magically find where your mysql, mysqldump and gzip commands are. Just leave them as they are and they will work... assuming you have the mysql, mysqldump and gzip software installed.

I got an error saying permissions denied. Any way I can get the permissions?

Or maybe a script that doesn't need permissions?
