DLNA question

lightwate
Hi, we have a buffalo NAS with DLNA support and i can use it to stream media to an ipad or to my android phone. In this scenario, the NAS is the host and the phone is the client right?

Here's the case: It can't play any avi files. Now is that a problem with the host or with the client? - like will downloading an avi player for the problem fix it? i mean, does dlna stream the video data, or the actual frames and audio of the movie?

The NAS is the host and the phone is the client. Don't quote me on this because I'm not entirely sure off the top of my head, but as far as I know, it streams the video data, so I think the problem is with the player. At least with Android, I know the stock player doesn't do well with avi files. I would try something like MoboPlayer or MX Video Player and see if that makes a difference. The app you're using to stream DLNA should prompt you which media player you want to use.
