Simple date function in php should solve this problem forever. So, admins should get on with it. I don't think it will me more complex than changing few line on php script.

And the year before that, and the year before that...

^.^ Bondings updates the copyright statement each time he changes the forum templates... Which is really the right way to do it anyway, since you shouldn't be claiming a new copyright on something that was made years ago.

I still hold to my original suggestion:

Quote:
Next time you update the file, please do " 2005 - 6783" or something similar.

Then perhaps we won't have any members worrying about our copyright for over a few thousand years.

These threads come up every year though. Were nearly half way to 2013, so we may as well wait till then to update the footer. Very Happy

Isn't there a way that one could code it so that it automatically updates itself every year?

Code:
<?php
   $date = getdate();
   echo $date['year'];
?>

is one way to do it. Smile

Hogwarts pointed out that there's a shorter and easier way:
Code:
<?php
   echo date('Y');
?>

It doesn't need to be updated to show how long Frihost has been in service; it shows that now... since 2005.

I agree. Copyright on footer must be automated or upgraded but no matter its not important or urgent.
