Free/non-commercial music

Gregoric
I have been recently wondering if there is any free music which is also worth listening in the Internet.

There are tons of bands or solo musicians creating or recording and sharing their tunes all over the web. However, unfortunately - a lot or even most of their creations have poor quality or value. Thus I've been finding it rather difficult to find any interesting bands. Now, I just dropped out searching.

These are several portals featuring such artists, but the music served there is rather random and it's hard to find anything that is both worth downloading and fits my taste.

Do you know any interesting band or even single album available for free? Or maybe you could recommend me some of those websites with unpaid content available? Any genre except techno/trance or classic - got plenty of those on CDs. What do you think about this idea, am I going to find anything? Smile

Only bigger project I've found for so long is Portal 2's OST. Available here.

Regards,
Greg

A netlabel I used to run (retired - just archive now)

Also you can find lots of interesting stuff on Soundcloud by searching by genre or whatever.

Thanks. I have used the soundcloud once already, only To download my friends' MP3s. If you'd like to - search for Seven on Seven. Especially track Alone Smile

Anyway thanks - I couldn't have recalled name of Jamendo. It had once been in my bookmarks but then I just forgot about it. As for those services - the other and last that I know is Last.fm.

I will certainly check out your music, Josso.

Not really my area but it sounds really nicely produced. I will follow them. Thanks

The label Denovali has some pretty darn good free downloads: http://denovali.com/mp3shop/Free-Downloads:::2.html?XTCsid=7k81jqeejjm3ejr1ahraan4da3

I especially recommend the Celeste ones (screamo with sludge metal influences) and Kodiak (drone doom metal).

In general, search for netlabels specialising genres you like or are interested in.

I also go there.. I enjoy listening to indie music..
you can also try Reverbnation http://www.reverbnation.com/

I don't know but I have a feeling jamendo and reverbnation are competing since both sites updated at the same time. .
