Custom picture view time in VLC

Josso
If someone can think of a better way of doing this let me know.

Starting a TV station on my local network - problem is the rips of my stuff aren't an exact hour or whatever because usually ads pad them out when they air on TV. Basically I need little "stand by" or schedule pictures to fill out the gaps so that stuff starts on the hour. Now I know with most media players you can set pictures to display themselves for a certain ammount of time before going to the next playlist item - I need custom times for individual pictures somehow.

Any suggestions?

PS: Definitely want to avoid rendering loads of individual video files every day or having to render one big file with everything merged. Don't have the time to maintain that.
