What Law(s) Have You Broken?

Asap170
Well after my topic entitled "Fail Of The Day" I came up with a new topic "What Law(s) Have You Broken?". I had some in mind and decided to share them to the community!

1. Well these laws are not the scariest, but the context is. I woke up and in less then two hours I broke a couple copyright laws because my mom did not want to pay a monthly subscription of $1 for JibJab!

2. Downloaded illegal software and T.V. Shows. (I plan on deleting the tv shows it just to watch. I could watch them on TV, but miss them and our DVR is too full with other shows. So I don't classify it as illegal, but it is...)

3. Stuff concerning The United States Government Military. Won't go into further details unless in a secure channel.
Vanilla
Well, I don't know if I can say everything here, but...

I'm guilty of littering, vandalizing, trespassing, dangerous driving (I don't even own a license!), DUI. I've stolen public property (a star made of concrete from a square in my little town) and I've done a lot of other things that I can't even mention. I used to be a fiery young girl. Wink

The star I was talking about. I'm the one on the right.

LOL! I won't count copyright laws because I've broken too many... To be fair, the only thing original in my netbook is the OS. Rolling Eyes

1. Speeding
2. Jay-walking
3. Public Intoxication (sans blood test which would have proven otherwise)
4. Possession of a controlled substance
5. Downloading illegal softare, music
6. Failure to update license/registration
7. Walking with a ice cream cone in my pocket in downtown Lexington, KY -- supposedly makes me a horse thief here, because you can keep any horse that follows you home. Much easier with the ice cream cone, apparently.
8. Staying in the public park after hours
9. Trespassing in the public pool after hours
10. I borrowed without asking once, and felt so bad that I returned the item without telling the person. Stealing? I have a pretty strong distaste for stealing, however.
11. Fighting/Disorderly Conduct
12. Breaking and entering

You asked! I haven't done much of that in the last seven years though... just recounting all the laws that I either absently, or intentionally broke over the years. I've gotten in a lot of trouble at times especially concerning drugs, so I cut the illegal substances a long time ago. No, I didn't commit crimes for drugs... ie B&E is related to childhood curiosity not compounding the issues in my life.

All of the above is a quick means to an end, and just like I got in trouble for most of the above, so will you! The length of my list is decidedly not cool.

I think it's your profile pic... makes us think "guy", that and in all honestly you are way too cool to be a girl! Smile

Is that other girl in the pic, on the right, throwing up gang signs? Gosh, you were a hooligan!
Afaceinthematrix
I don't break copyright laws because I purchase the music that I listen to and the pay for my cable.

However, I have broken many other laws:
1) Drug laws (although pot and hallucinates should NOT be illegal)
2) Alcohol laws (who doesn't drink before they're of age?)
3) Minor traffic laws (I really try hard to be a safe driver and I always try to follow speed limits and such because the lives of other people are at stake; but every once and a while I'll glance at my speedometer and realize that I need to slow down)
4) Theft (although I have not stolen anything since I was young)

And then... There's the bad stuff....

When I was a kid, I was an extremely bad child. My friends and I would trespass, light dumpsters on fire and run, etc. One time we attempted to burn down a church but luckily we failed. We would run around in all hours of the night doing anything and everything to get in trouble and often run from the cops... I won't get into details because the list of stuff we did is far too long...

These signs use to mean something to us at that time, but I can't remember what. Sad Yes, we were a bunch of hooligans: me, the two girls in the pic, the girl who took the photo and another 5 guys.

Jaywalking and but I didn't get caught. Hahaha

Thanks for the wonderful compliment ASAP, not sure whether I deserve it but it is much appreciated.

This is my list:

1. DUI a long while ago (not in the UAE however)
2. Parking illegally
3. Speeding
4. Driving without a license
5. Jay walking (regularly)
IceCreamTruck
I just had an awesome thought that made me laugh but it's impossible.

I'd love to see a collage video of frihosters "jay walking" set to carnival music. I would laugh my butt off!

You know... like one of those old funny silent films. I dunno... you guys might not be with me on this idea. Haha! I still think it would be a riot.
catscratches
Never heard of jay walking, and apparently it only applies to motorways in Sweden.

- Shoplifting
- Copyright infringement
- Production, possession and distribution of child pornography (Swedish laws don't make any difference between lines on a paper and photographs of actual children); in other words: thought crime
- Probably some traffic laws I don't know. I don't drive, though, so the list could probably be kept shorter than most's.
- Perhaps littering, though I actually doubt it. I'm very careful about picking stuff up after me in public (now, in my own room on the other hand...)

Holy smokes where to begin. Let me first preface that my father is a police officer so I didn't really have the best role model in the form of what is legal, and what is not (because everything's legal when your a cop).

I was instilled with a very strong sense of morality however, and because morality rarely has anything to do with legality, I still have a decent personal record of illegal incidents.

1.Obviously the typical road infractions including driving an unregistered motorcycle without an endorsement.
2. I may have committed several felonies (weapons across international borders) but I won't elaborate in fear of big brother.
3. Trespassing (almost daily) (dumpster diving)
4. Drinking and driving (different than DUI in my opinion)
5. Intellectual property theft
6. Poaching, and hunting/fishing w/o license (only sustainable poaching however)
7. Smuggling goods internationally (no harm done)
8. Boarding an airplane with ammunition in carry-on (that one got me a D.H.S. record btw)
9. Selling USCG equipment (it was abandoned however)

Did you have a gun or just the ammunition? Even if you didn't have ammunition you can easily make a nice little explosive device. I wouldn't know though :p

Asap. If you're interested in Coolclay's dumpster diving strategies and experiences here are some links to papers on dumpster diving in his Website. The papers are enormously well written and completely mind blowing:

http://www.coolclay.info/DumpsterDiving.html
http://www.coolclay.info/DumpsterLegality.htm
http://www.coolclay.info/WhyIHunt.html
http://www.coolclay.info/weaning.html

If you don't have time for reading all of the papers, the first one in the list is a must read.

Lately I've not been upto much bad stuff.
I might have littered maybe a few times, especially when there are no garbage bins around.
Lately, I've been hiding 2 servers from auditors, as they really get on my nerves and ask 100 questions about nothing really.... but I guess its their job. I just can't seem to deal witht he hassle.

When I was much younger, I did a lot, but not as mcuh as you'll have.
I did hack a telephone, while in college and made free calls abroad.
I've stolen a laptop / tablet from my previous company, which did not pay my salary for 7 months. but to be more justified, the tablet wasn't working properly when I stole it. It was just lying around.
I took it home, and after a while fixed it up and it works ok. Its a bit slow, but still not too bad, but not worth the 7 months salary at all.

This is an interesting topic. I haven't broken many laws but I usually defy traffic laws. Usually driving at high speed or drive after alcohol consumption etc. BTW I drive slow while on influence of alcohol.

Talking about online, I download many movies, TV shows, software etc from torrent but is perfectly legal in my country because there is no one to catch such act. So, I am free to download anything I want unlike in the US or other countries where copyright laws are strictly followed.

The jay walking to carnival music is hilarious. Hopefully also distracting to the motorists. Here in the UAE you have to have all of your attention focused when you cross a road. As motorists (not all of them obviously but there is a general trend) tend to speed up when they see someone crossing a road. Instead of slowing down. Sort of gritting their teeth at the impertinence of someone actually crossing the road. Even when one is using a legitimate pedestrian crossing. The only crossing that they would stop at (and not always) is one where there is traffic lights. So yes, would be nice if it's like carnival style and pedestrians could get a little bit of a reprieve.

Aside from the usual software/movie piracy (that most people is guilty of) I'm also guilty of bringing a bullet in an airport.

Well it's actually an empty shell that's been turned into a keychain. It was given to me by a friend so I kept it with my keys which I hung around my pants. I was walking pass the inspecting people at the airport in Manila when one of the guards detained me asking questions like "what's this??". They took me to their chief and hold me there for like an hour, confiscated my 'bullet' and filed something which i never heard of since.

I was a bit nervous but I know that I didn't do anything wrong. They let me go after the filing the papers and they just comforted me saying that it's better that they were able to confiscate it in the Philippines and not in Atlanta, where I was going. But for all I know I was in Hawaii 2-3 weeks ago and they didn't seem to care about that keychain.

hahaha there it is, my super secret criminal life Smile))

1. Jaywalking (I had to look up what it was Razz )
2. Passing the speed limits by car and bicycle. I'm also guilty of not having any lights on my three bicycles and driving like a loony on my bike.
3. Trespassing: Mostly in the forest when there are 'pedestrian only'-roads which are like the most adventurous because of the single tracks, the drops, steep downhills,...
4. Identity theft: I saw that a friend left his facebook open, so I said some things in his name (it was kinda funny ^_^ )
5. Copyright Infringement: I don't have to explain that, I guess. >.>
6. Hacking: I hacked an email account when I was twelve. I'm not really proud about that though. Embarassed

I tend to live within the law, though we all infringe upon laws from time to time Wink Most of what I've done has been pretty tame:

.: Jaywalking
.: Speeding… I've had enough tickets that my insurance has cost way too much… been long enough now that they're not still causing mischief.
.: Digital piracy, though I tend to pay for software if/when I can (especially when it's reasonably priced).
.: Theft; I've shoplifted as a child
.: Copyright infringement - I've drawn copyrighted material, which, if the owners wanted to be pricks could have been an issue, I suppose… but as it was not for sale, they likely wouldn't have a case Wink

… I don't think anything that I burned as a child was illegal; though I suppose perhaps I lit some fires during controlled dates...
TurtleShell
1) jaywalking. almost got a ticket couple years ago for this.
2) speeding
3) driving with my headlights/tail lights burned out and other random traffic violations
4) fare evasion in the New York subway--I went through the door instead of going through the turnstile
5) mmmmight have brought something through customs I wasn't supposed to, once.
6) bought pirated videos in Chinatown, plus knock off purses (is that illegal?)
7) a little minor shop lifting
Cool drank before it was legal
9) does skinny dipping in a river violate public nudity laws?

there might be a few other things that I'm less than comfortable talking about here.
IceCreamTruck
Actually, you guys have to bear with me on this -- this is a great topic, and much of what you guys have said has not been completely processed by me, but actually, I think there's already enough information here to draw some pretty funny conclusions, and it will only get funnier as people add to it!

So, I'm still back on Dean's comment about dumpster diving. I read to the "WhyIHunt" one, and you said the first one was a must read, but I think "WhyIHunt" should have been first. There's something primeval, and yet very healthy, about the hunt relationship between man and animal, and how you do it defines the person that you are pretty clearly. You find out who you are really quick when you have to do something like prepare a live chicken for dinner! They are all great reads, but to me "WhyIHunt" is insightful and reminded me of some things that I've wanted to change in my own life.

The doctor has made a rule for me not to take too much sweet at a time. Yesterday, I have taken a bunch of them from the fridge.

And regarding illegal software-- No, because I work in an IT college where they have to purchase everything legal(and thus available to me, free). But illegal movies and music-- My 1 TB external HDD is full, have to purchase another one. Very Happy

Those are worth a thousand dollars for a good looking one. Good score -- it's hurricane -- so even if it's not that nice it should be a good balanced table to play some foosball on!

In prison people make fairly effective bombs with cases of film which is more common than bullets in jail. If they had bullets they wouldn't even have to really try to make a weapon... there is a lot of material to work with in bullets, and probably several different ways to get cleaver with them of which they were not about to inform you, so they just take them.

I like firing a gun in Canada though... that's classic rebellion. Just because you can! You are a rebel rouser too! "Eh! There's another foreigner firing his weapon on our mountain. Better go dispatch the Mounties, eh?" Gotta love Canadians! They will find you and you will stand trial for your trespasses, eh! They will trap you like a snow fox, and they'll send out a whole bunch of fliers talking about how bad you've been before they release you back into the wild with a tag on your ear. Eh, you've never been tracked, until ye've been tracked by a Canadian with that wild look of nature in his eye! Oh, damn I really miss my Canadian friends now... I used to poke fun at them a lot, but only because they are good sports and can laugh at themselves. I'd only start making fun of Canadians... they would finish, eh? lol

When I was in high school, six of us guys borrowed a van and drove from Michigan to Florida for Easter break. One night four of the guys left to party and my buddy and I fell asleep in the van. We woke up to policemen with flashlights ordering us out, we were taken to jail and spent the rest of the night in a cell. Our crime was sleeping on the beach. Now I'm an ex-con, I guess. We were released the next morning. Smile
