Transparent aluminum?

Its amazing how much star trek was right about. Flip phones for example. Who would have thought transparent aluminum was anything but funny?

and just to make it all better I recall seing an article detailing the interest of the military in some kind of teleportation device (wouldn't we all be interested I wonder), unfortunately I couldn't find that particular article that also detailed the budget allocated for the project (strictly theory of course)

this article however:

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/6940417

does mention the $25,000 spent on some study by the Air Force

Beam me up Scotty indeed Wink

Steam ships were not created by mastering the technologies of sails and riggings. Jet aircraft did not result from mastering piston-propeller aircraft. Transistors were not invented by mastering vacuum tubes. Photocopiers did not result from mastering carbon paper. And breakthrough space drives will not be created by mastering rocket engines.

Have a look here for more info. It's interesting how some of this is developing.

you're right, I haven't checked the entire link but from all the theories surrounding space travel that I've heard you just have to marvel at some of them

using nuclear bombs as a propellent, now that's just..wow, looked for it on that site and there it is: Project Orion

Quote:
About 5 bombs per second are dropped out the back and detonated to propel the craft along. A huge shock plate with shock absorbers make up the base of the craft.

from solar sails to all the other ideas, it will be a while before we're using WARP and/or bending space/time for transportation, but what the hell, it can happen who knows were we'll be in 200years

I would prefer not to have spaceships flying around with Nukes as fuel though, it would give a whole new meaning to "that man syphoned off my fuel, I wonder why"

Yeah, facinating stuff for sure. I'm pretty sure that what ever we use for 'fuel' will be much more powerful than nukes. (Prolly more stable, though)

Awesome find man. Your right. Gene Roddenbery was quite a visionary and some even believe he may have been a time traveler from the future. hehe
Flip fones, motion doors, laser weapons, voice recognition computers, etc and now tranparent aluminum. LOL And so odd it ends up aluminum and not copper or zince or something............makes ya think.

I just want my damn cloaking device. hehehe

I dunno bout the warp drive thing. I think we will travel as fast as light one day but I dunno if we could go faster than that. Einstein didn't believe we could go faster than light and who am I to argue with einstein. hehe But I do believe generation of small wormholes might be possible through scalar technology and allow for instant travel anywhere in the cosmos one day.
