What games are you trying to play?
f you try older games on Win XP you often get problems. If that is the case, here's a site with possible solutions for running older games on XP.
http://www.ntcompatible.com/

If you try to play newer games than I sadly can't help you.
RA
You need to tell us what kind of errors are being reported.
Also, you should download a benchmark program or something to tax your system, to see if you are having hardware stability problems.
SoftStag
If you give us more information, like the exact error message, when it happens, and what game it is; then we have a better chance of helping you.

It's probably either a compatibility problem with Longorn or (I would guess this) you need to download certain codecs for the game to work or your graphics card is too old.

First of all upgrade ur ram to 512 MB or 1 GB(256 MB will do). Is ur mobo with onboard graphics or without on board graphics. If without on-board graphics card than its time for u to buy a new mobo. If u don't want to buy new mobo u can buy a new gfx card. Then u would be able to play all the latest games.
DeuCe
You said you added and tried a lot of mechanicnical items. You think you messed something up while while doing so? Also, please tell us the type of games you are trying to play, as it will prove if your comp can support it.

Try a new pc. PRices are dropping every day and a p3 isnt really what it used to be. even an AMD based system with reasonable graphics ram etc can b picked up for <$1000 AUD about $750US.
billybob
you dont need a new pc just to b abl to play games! it might just be that your graphics is not good anough try getting a new graphics card u can pic one pritty chep now!
xorcist
What error messge is it saying when you try to play the games. Are you sure that the games correctly installed.

If you're trying to play games written for a M$DOS based system (such as win98 or dos itself) they probably won't work. This is because xp is NT based. It could be too that the hardware you have just isn't compatible with the games. I don't know what exactly this "longhorn transformation" is, but it could be screwing you up too.
xtremepc
Prob dont have support for the next gen of windows yet
Dark-Tech
1st there all right we need more info on the error message
2nd it could infact be your video card sucks idk, idk what you have
3rd are all your drivers installed correctly
right click on MY computer and click manage
click on device manager and check for ? marks big and yellow

Reformat you HD and install XP again. Most likely an OS issue. If a reboot doesn't fix it, reinstall.

Isn't this a bit extreme when we don't even know what the error is?

I wouldn't take this advice until we know more about the problem.

What kind of games are you running and you system config (ram and etc)?

It could be your computer is not powerful enough to run the game.
TheGeek
upgrade your RAM if you havent already, Ill assume you have atlest 256 cuz your on xp. Also, try updating your graphics drivers if its an onboard card. If its a normal like agp or pci card, still update your drivers but also make sure that your device is working properly in device manager. It may just be that either your processor isnt supported if its a new game. Or that your OS doesnt support the game if its an old game. It could also be that if you have 256MB RAM that you dont have enough RAM to run the game, some of todays higher demand games claim to only need that much, however you really need 512 or more.

good luck

sorry for the late reply......

well i have a 64 mb internal gf card which is not the problem... all the games such as nfs undg 2 or age of empires 3 or any other latest cool game...san andreas etc.. all are installed succesfully and do start. but wen i start to play them the game crashes and a error mesaage pops up.... you know the kind in xp the offers to send a report. in details it points out a file....."wba....." somthin. ill confirm it but it says that the prob is with my computer not the gf card or ram. and by the way i have a 256 ram. another pc of the same config runs all the games so this prooves that my pc is not fuctioning properly..........my windows also somtimes crashes giving that memory dumping somthin... the blu screen.

i tried rebooting and reinstallin xp 3 - 4 times... even did f disk and format and verythin 1 can think of but stil......plz any suggestions..

P3!? To play games you need a faster CPU, better ram probably, and a better video card as well.

Just wanted to pipe in and make sure everyone realizes that this is XP, not Longhorn. The transformation pack is a skinning program, which changes some of windows to make the GUI look like Longhorn (Aero, for one).

salman_500, have you tried the games without the transformation pack? Have you gotten the drivers for your video from the manufacturer's site, instead of just the Windows driver? What game titles are you trying to play? Did you get any XP-specific patches for the games?
pjv
If you want to run good games in WinXp then you should probably upgrade your hardware. Pentium III won't just do it, unless you install it with older apps like Win98 and games like Quake 1.
salman_500
i treid evrything but i remind you again tha there is no prob with my hardware.. wen i install a check comes up and the game setting says that you computer is perfect for running that specific game ...... wen i run the fixit utility of on track t says that there are clusters in my pc and wen i choose to fix it it says that it cud not be done as some files are being used to run the windows..
mark
Maybe you havent got enough RAM or your graphics card is crap. Can you even run basic games such as pinball? If not, then I say there is something seriously wrong with your computer.
salman_500
forget it guys u just dont get the point just read my last post....the hardware is fine..........if u dont understand forget it....all i wanted was to get to know of a software that fixes internal errors thats it....but u guyz say " ur 3d card is crap" "your comp is old" "u have poor hardware" ahhh forget it ill find help of my own........

sorry to the ones who really offered help..

Does this happen only when you try playing games? You said you already formatted your system three or four times, so there cant be any problems with your systems registry.

"well i have a 64 mb internal gf card which is not the problem..."

If your onboard graphics card is using 64 MB of memory, then it leaves your system with only 192 MB of memory to use. NFS UG 2 requires a DX9 card and looking at the fact that you have a P3 processor, I dont think your onboard graphics card is DX9 complaint. The other system you have, does it use the same graphics card?

The replies you can get here or anywhere else for that matter can only be hypothetical assumptions. No one here has access to your system. And the information you have provided is insufficient for anyone to give proper answers or solutions. You havent specified the speed of your processor, the chipset of the onboard graphics card etc.

Do you mean "bad clusters"? This does mean that there might be an impending hardware problem. "Bad clusters" means your hard drive is going bad. If some important files were on those corrupted clusters, then that might be causing the crashing.

BACK UP EVERYTHING NOW! Just in case you're heading for a a hard drive failure, you want to make sure that important pictures and documents are saved.

If you want to try and fix the bad clusters (or a least get Windows to try and ignore them), you should try to boot in "safe mode" and try scandisk (chkdsk for XP).

Here's how you do it:

At the desktop, open a command prompt (Start>Run ->cmd).

Then, type
Code:
chkdsk /f
This will cause a disk integrity check with the option to fix. It will then tell you that you can't do that, but if you want, it'll schedule one at boot time. Say yes, you want this. Reboot your computer and cross your fingers. Good luck and start saving for a new hard drive.

to fix the problem i want to know what exact problem is there and what type of error is there. first check the system requirment of ur game , then check RAM reqiurment. also see the graphic compatibility, DirectX version

check all these things.

It isnt nice to get angry in the forums. PPL here were only trying to help u. How do you know that ur hardware is fine? u might be wrong. right?
I am a network engineer and work with windows xp and 2003 all the times.
with the problem u specified it is surely a bad RAM.

There is no reason for windows to crash unless it is a hardware problem or ur machine is infected with viruses. or u must be using a beta version of windows.

So first check ur machine for viruses.
If ur machine is clean then try changing that 256 MB ram to this problematic computer and see if u still get this problem. this will point out the error.

If there is no problem with the RAM then check the hard disk for bad sectors. If you have bad sectors then also this problem may occur.

After this check your mother board. A P3 processor is more than sufficient to run the games u specified. so no need for processor upgradation.

about the graphics card, if u install the latest version of direct X then you do not need the AGP card.
The direct X drivers themselves offer 3D rendering. So if all the above process fails then it would be better you get a new computer. (i know this wont be necessary)

For your information there is no software that can resolve this problem. (since even the fresh installation of windows crashed and this clearly states that it is either a hardware problem or u must be using a beta version of windows or something like that or hard disk bad sectors)

You should first check out the requirements of the game, by reading the documentation provided with the game installation.
If, your computer meets the h/w and s/w requirements, then you must try un-installing the longhorn transformation, since the error you are getting is realted to it.

ok ok... i'm read all of your post and, I'm really (for sure) interesting in you because you still try to play NFS UG 2 in P3 (T__T), and i'm here not to say that your hardware is poor, but please remember a thing, when you install some game in a PC and it work corectly, and you install same games with same spec and same OS, sometimes it won't work, hardware is somthing like us, getting older and when the day is come, need to get a replacement.

Another thing, ther's some games who give a system checker (like EA does), and when you check it, it's said it will work, but you know, it only count the minimum system requirement, and it will run "in a crappy performance", I'm ever install Homeworld 2 in P4 with a good hardware and 256 mbs of Ram, and it's show that my memory is not enough sometimes (the minimum requirement of Homeworld 2 is P4 some VGA card and 256 mb Ram).

And i think it's good for you if you buy a new (woops Sad) computer with higher spec, and about the cluster on your HDD, it might be a bad cluster (check it Smile) if yes, it would be better if you back up all of your datta (I lost all of my documents when my HDD got too much bad cluster T__T))
salman_500
THNX guyz for everything.....i guess my pc is working fine now.....it doesn't crash ...doesn't fet stuck...and runs games. that longhorn transfiguration pack sure was a messs. i unistalled it and my PC is FINE... Very Happy .
