.mpg file not working in Windows media player

Tony The Tiger
Is it possible that I need an add on to play a .mpg file in windows media player. My player is currently getting hung up every time I play a particular file although all others seem to work.

Media player is bloated and useless these days (never was much cop anyway)

I recommend using VLC player - I run it litreally 24 hours a day it's very reliable and compatible. It will more than likely play anything you throw at it.

*if* for some strange reason you have to use WMP then you will have to go hunting down codecs to get this to work

Yeah, VLC is much better than Windows Media Player for playing videos, although I don't think it can play DRM protected DVD's due to legal issues (I think only licensed media players can do that)

Use media player classic.
It will support lot of format.
Sad to hear still you are using Windows media player.

I am not talking about a DRM protected DVD. I'll try VLC.

I still need help with this one.

Your computer may miss the code, download and install K-lite code pack may fix the problem. K-lite code pack is free and safe, and it includes almost all video code and audio code.

I just figured out that my Hewlett Packard OEM DVD player software will play the MPEG that I was having trouble with.
