User can Update a webpage

Possum
Hi

I want to be able to update just one page on my site from any computer.

How can I do that. I would be happy to just have a form on that page that will be posted to that page.

Thank you..

Please explain it a little more.

What kind of page you want to update ?

If it is a normal page as in a CMS, then every CMS provide login option. Just Login and updte it.

If you want to change a text file or something, then you can use PHP to open a file and write in it.

I want to write the code myself. I am learning php and MySQL and though this would be a good project. Especially as I have students who own their own websites and would like to be able to do this.

CMS are better but not needed YET

But you didn't said that what kind of file you want to update ?

If you will be going to make a big project, then you may need to build it using php and mysql. So tell us that How you are making that and what you want to do further in tat ? Smile

It will be php. I hope to make it so any page on the site can be updated this way. So will be using MySQL.

My present goal is to understand the concept.

Thank you!

Have a look at how most CMS's like drupal and wordpress work.
also check here: http://www.contao-factory.com/general-cms-concepts.html, I only read the first part but it looks kind of ok to me.

Indeed, it sounds like you're trying to build your own CMS. You just need a form that submits to a database, and a page that displays from the database. Obviously the form will need to be secured somehow.
