Where are my databases stored?

davidv
When I create a database on my local machine using MySQL as my DBMS. Where is the file that contains the actual content stored? Despite knowing how to create complicated queries and design strong relational databases, I don't have a clue where that content is actually stored.

Can anyone help out?

In Windows, for example in WAMP Local Server, you can find the Database files at :
C:\wamp\bin\mysql\mysql5.1.36\data\Database_name\*.FRM files

Thanks for the helpful windows dir posts but I'm looking for the ubuntu dir.
badai
default in /var/lib/mysql

but your hosting may change it during config

to find out, create phpinfo file, see MYSQL_HOME folder, inside that folder you will find my.ini file.

inside the file you can see datadir=bla bla bla...

that's your data folder.
