- MSN Search Toolbar with Windows Desktop Search: I don't understand why microsoft is always so totaliter. Why they should make you download the whole toolbar when you only need a desktop search.

These softwares are especially usefull if you have lots of files on your computer. You don't need to spend hours and hours to organize them in folders anymore. Just search the name or something related to the file and it will show up.

All of the above are perfectly valid.. But I find google's non intrusiveness and minimal RAM consumption makes it come out top, not to mention that when you use google toolbar to search your getting the best results.. Duh!! Its google!!
