welll I won't have a look at this tutorial but have a look at the easyphp software package. You'll have web server+DBMS+DB'S+PHP engine!!

Compiled and ready to go - you just need to execute a .bar file :).

I was using PHPTRIAD. But it is dead it seems.
I found a similar sw on Apache friends called xamps.
It is the best one and there is not much config involved.
