Comp making files of folders

medesignz
I am growing ever annoyed of my comp making files in folders of nothing in particular, but the files being named after the containing folder...

Have anyone experienced such a matter before? Have you rectified it?
Peterssidan
Can you give an example? What does the files contain?
Marcuzzo
examples could help here.
but I think it may be a virus or something.
run a full system scan with your antivirus

Detect and Protect with Byte

Malware is big and malware is bad. Your computer is constantly at risk from infection by malware including viruses, worms, trojans, rootkits, dialers and spyware. Malwarebytes specializes in fighting malware.

If viruses are mischief, malware is mayhem. Malware doesn’t just want to disrupt your network, it wants your keystrokes, logins, passwords, address book, data, credit card information, favorite t-shirt and possibly your cat.

Malware is not going away any time soon. Malware is growing, developing, constantly evolving. Malware is becoming more difficult to detect, and even harder to remove.

Only the most sophisticated anti-malware techniques can detect and remove malicious programs from your computer. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO combines powerful new technologies designed to seek out, destroy, and prevent malware

I concur with the malware hypothesis. It is very unlikely that any legit software is randomly creating files and folders. It might even be worthwhile to take the HD out, put it in a external enclosure and connect it to another PC to do a virus and malware scan from there. Viruses that are well enough embedded to be making all kinds of files and folders sometimes have a nasty habit of creating means of disabling virus and malware detectors.

Also, if nothing important is on the computer even a format and re-install would be productive.

I'm pretty sure that it is Malware.

After trying to get some software, it continues to close down the browser... Is there some way I can get around this?
