US games future? Im moving to Europe.

Jonsps
I cant belive it. Hillary Clinton and all the rest of the stupid parents (that bought their kids a rated M game) who are all upset about their kids seeing the "porn" with the hot cofee patch on GTA5 is going to ruin the gaming industry in the US. I just ordered the European version of Indigo Profacy (titled Fahrenheit) due to the fact the the US cant handle an tiny, well placed, tactful love scene, where you get to see the main females 2d nipples. Apparnely that had to be taken out of the US version because outherwise it would be only availible in adult stores. PLease people. Do we not have sex in the United States anymore?

I would like anyones opinion on this, especialy in the US because this could turn into a real problem.

I'm not american... but i think if there were no more sex... american people would disappear....

well.... in europe some say that violence comes from video games.... or TV... well.... just watch informations to see violence....

well.... i think you'll have to go on the beach to see a lot of strangers females' nipples :p

well, all the idiots have to come from some place Wink

nah, just kidding ;P

i find this extremely stupid and ignorant. they can watch worse stuff on the telly during the day, but if they play a game, woho, that will make them go wack! especially if there is any nudity in the game. thats a no go! bah -_-

Did not.

It passed a law that any M rated game will get an extra sticker with a huge "18" on it.

I also think it means that they will be sold over the counter only(not to sure about that though)

Someone sent an email to Jack Thompson:

Subject: We love Jackamari
Message: We'd like to thank you on behalf of our whole forum here at totalgames.net for helping to sell loads of copies of Killer7 and GTA. Thanks to your warnings saving us all from playing violent games even more copies of these games have sold on import. We'd just like to thank you for keeping the games industry going.

You can imagine the reaction...

The video game industry through powerful law firms like Blank Rome in Philadephia, has tried to silence and harm Jack Thompson, as has the porn industry for 18 years through The Florida Bar. Persecution goes with "fighting the good fight." It never works, as it makes us stronger.

Quoted from his website stopkill.com

Sorry but something about this made me laugh.

Technically, games with a Mature rating are for people 17+ year olds, while Adults Only is for 18+ year olds only. Maddox makes a good point concerning the Hot Coffee mod, as well as other nudity/sex issues concerning games.

Yeah, it's lame how parents can't monitor their children. Instead, they blame the video games companies. The parents are just admitting that either:

1. They're completely idiots and don't know what rated mature means. They refuse to read the definition on the BACK OF THE BOX FOR THE GAME.

2. They pay absolutely no attention to their children.

If you allow your kids to be exposed to inappropriate material, then it's your lookout, not the producers of that material. The best that a games publisher can do is point out what is in the game, but after that the ball is in the court of the customer, y'know?

sorry, posted twice up by accident

You could have clicked the little button on the far right of your post and deleted the second one instead of making a THIRD post to apologize for the second.

As far as video game content goes, it doesn't do near the damage that other things, say television, do. How many times have you wanted to imitate a game? How about a movie? Chances are, there are more things in movies that are worth imitating than in games (by "worth imitating", I mean that interest and compel one enough to try to imitate).

Thats exactly what I said though Razz
Violent games aren't banned here...they just have a big sticker Surprised
Plus you get finned if you sell to a minor, but there has been a law like that here in the past I beileve.

I shouldn't have to get in trouble just because bad parents let their mentally ill kid play GTA...it's all just stupid nonsense...

S*x and violence... that's what is in most games. Here in Holland, I think they are not "good buisy". They show 5 year old kids how to kill eachother, but if u show them how to make life on tv, it is forbidden... weird... dont u think?

No they aren't(and why'd you use * as an e?)
More E and T games were released last year than M and AO.
Plus most of the "violent" games suck. Just the same boring gameplay over and over again, loved by moronic teenagers who know nothing of gameplay.

Do you mean violence good, sex bad?
It is kind of weird, but it makes somewhat sense since, what, 1 out of a million people are going to be stupid enough to imate a violent act seen in a video game or on tv?
But sex...Well for one it could lead to kids doing things they shouldn't do to early in life...I really don't know though...

I'm from Holland too. And I don't think we're doing bad at all with the games industry. I mean, if a parrent, lets their 5 year old child play a game where you kill someone in a rather grose or disgusting manner, I really think that the parrent is the one to blame, not the games industry. 5 year olds are supposed to play games with Mickey mouse or something. Not GTA.

As for the things happing with bans on games and all. I think it's rather stupid. If parrents buy games such as GTA for their young kids, they shouldn't be crying if they discover that there's some scene, which can only get accesed by modding your game, with 2 people having "sex" with their clothes on, and don't mind the slaying and brutal murdering in that game.

I'd rather ban games with exesive violence then games where you see some bewbs or people having "sex". Not that I want any ban on any game.
I think parrents should shut up, and get to their senses, because you don't buy games like that for your kid.
