Few weeks back I went to Mustang Area of Nepal. Even though I an Nepali, I hardly get a chance to explore other parts of Nepal but this time around it was a holiday time and living in capital city was getting very very hectic so I just decided to go closer to the mountains and spent 12 days around the Annapurna area. It is one of the biggest tourist attracting area. Here are some pictures that I have taken from this area.

There picture includes desert like terrain to high mountains. I hope you like these picture and care to visit Nepal or at least make Nepal your primary visiting target.

Here are the albums. I have uploaded these photos to facebook and are public. If you have any trouble viewing these pictures please let me know.

I must ask... how did it come to be called the 'Mustang Area'?

I thought the term Mustang was pretty specific as an Americanized version of a Spanish word... and wouldn't expect to hear it as a place name in Nepal... Unless it's just a phonetic coincidence or something.

Well its just a coincidence that the spelling matched but they are completely different thing. Mustang is derived from Tibetan term meaning fertile land. You can find more details here

Wow...I like the ff. pictures the most.

It really is true that when people get exhausted with the city life, the best resort is to go to a serene and tranquil place like the mountains to reflect. Smile

Best is to live there, and not get exhausted with city life in the first place.

You got a point but then people are so allured by the 'success' and advancement that the city has. It is the reason why young people choose to live in the city because it feels very young. The young like to spend their energy in the city. When they get old and wiser, they choose to live in the countryside/province, when they realized that they've grown and need a peaceful environment.

Of course, they are The Great Himalaya... Shocked

Hello, I'm 17 years old and am currently on a one year trip around the world with my family... Next month, I will be going to Nepal for a trek to everest base camp... Would you have any advices, or even people you know that could help me to find nice places to stay during the rest of my trip in nepal?

Everest base camp is one of the must visit places in Nepal. Going to base camp can be done in 2 ways, one taking a very long trekking route which takes about 21 days to complete or take a flight to Lukla and after 2/3 days trek you will reach base camp as far as I know. But it might take few more days because you have to stay at some places for acclimatization.

I suggest that you consult with some trekking agencies and make a good plan for Everest base camp trip. If you go through trekking agencies, you won't have to go through the hassle of finding a place to stay or search for a guide or potter. Everything will be arranged by the agency. This will give you time to explore. If you are planning to come next month than I think that will be the best time for Everest base camp trek. Climate will be moderate and most of the time clear.

I am sure that if you decide to visit Nepal than it will be the most memorable time of your life.

Good luck.

You said it right friend, the mountains there are beautiful and breathtaking. The air is also fresh and clean. It is cold there and it totally rocks if you have a warm cup of drink while you are up there.

I really hope that the rest of Nepal also has the same kind of environment (clean air) one day.
