EMI & Front-Side Audio

Aredon
So essentially my front side audio port is on the very back of the motherboard, and as much as I have tried to get it away from the RAM, video card, and CPU, it can only reach so far. I get a decent chunk of audio distortion on my headset (and I don't want to use the rear ports). Does anyone know any good shielding options? I've looked into ferrite cores a little bit but I can't seem to find one that would meet my needs. Any suggestions other than aluminum foil? Razz

Are you saying that the cable that connects the front panel to your motherboard gets too close to other components and therefore causes audio distortion? If that's so, you could try taking the insulation and static shielding from another cable (such as a USB cable) and wrap it around the cable in your computer. I haven't tried it, but I would imagine it would help at least somewhat.

Eh... I'm looking less to try and cannibalize other parts (and possibly ruin them), and more to just buy some sort of shielding.
