I've been thinking of getting a U.S. Government job with the FBI or CIA. I probably be looking for an IT position, but I am an dormant activist. I want to be apart of things that happen and that, but in some cases I do not agree with all the actions the government does. What do you think?
If you take a job with the FBI or CIA, there's no room for your own actions. You become part of an organization, part of a hierarchy. If people would do what they want (ie. what their emotions tell them) then it would all fall apart. Loyalty and obedience are the basis of any organization, just look at any army unit in the world - the more loyal, obedient, organized - the more effective.
In my humble opinion, what you're doing seems kinda weird. That's like saying "I wanna work on a whale hunting boat, but I oppose whale hunting". I'm not saying that federal work is pure evil, but there are many facets of it that are morally objectionable for many people.
why not stay free ? When you work in the government , you will find yourself doing something involuntarily. I'm wondering your motivate to be employed by the government.
