Why Have Java Installed. Windows 7

Possum
Hi

I did a check on the APPS on my system that need Java and all I found was yawcam.com.

There may be something else that I dont know about.

So I guess I dont need Java..

Or do some webpages need Java.

Have I done the right thing. ?

Why would I need Java..?

Thank you.. ?

Minecraft and Open Office. Very Happy
Those are the only reason I have Java installed.
Websites that need Java are quite rare. There are some file uploader applets and some mathematical simulations. But the file uploaders' days are over thanks to html 5.

If you don't have applications that require java, you've done the right thing.
It only slows your system down.

You could be surprised how many applications use Java without you knowing it.

This is due to the fact that Java is easy to program in, and cross platform, so a lot of applications make use of it. You may find that if you were to remove it, programs that use java without you knowing it, will stop working.

I have uninstalled Java.

But I can easily put it back in. I have lost a couple of apps like Yawcam

So far so good..

Just an experiment

< This guy plays Minecraft a lot, thus Java is very necessary =D. I also program occasionally in Java.

Java is used a little bit here and there. So, it is always better to keep the Java in your system

What I do is to sometimes block the Java Updater, when I am on a limted bandwidth internet connection, becuse it may decide at odd times to update itself and slow down my browsing speed.

But always keep it and keep it updated to prevent and security loopholes
